Message From The Principal
Good Afternoon Stoller families,
This Special Edition of the Stoller Weekly contains important information for those students that will be returning to school for in-person instruction.
Many new procedures have been established to help maintain student and staff safety during the remaining weeks of school. Please review the contents of this newsletter and if you have any questions or concerns you may email: SMS-Communications@beaverton.k12.or.us or call the main office, 503-356-2680
I would like to remind you that on April 13th from 6:00 - 7:00 pm I will be hosting a parent information session for 6th grade families who will be joining us for hybrid in-person instruction.
And on April 14th from 6:00 - 7:00 pm, I will be hosting a parent information session for 7th and 8th grade families who will be joining us for hybrid in-person instruction.
See below for zoom information for both sessions.
All students will continue to access classroom instruction via Zoom with their teachers, including hybrid students when they do not attend in person.
I can not express how excited we are to welcome students in the building again. These thirteen months have been difficult on everyone especially our students. Teachers and staff have been preparing for the 19th and will continue to do so this week. Thank you for your patience and compassion as we navigated unprecedented circumstances. We are educators because we enjoy working with children. Watching them learn and grow is a rewarding experience and an honor we don't take lightly.
Thank you for being such an incredible community!

Sign out slips will be available and a staff member will check your id and collect your slip from you. Please allow 10 minutes for your student to be located and released.
Signing Students In:
If your student is arriving late to school; please walk them to the main office door, complete the sign-in slip and have them give the sign-in slip to the attendance secretary. Or you may send your student with a note to excuse them upon arrival.
If you student is returning to school from an appointment they may "self sign-in" and you do not need to walk them to the door or provide a note.

Tips For Transitioning to Hybrid In-Person Learning
- Practice a consistent bedtime/wake-up time. Encourage students to try waking up at the same time every weekday.
- Since students attending IPH will be transitioning between in-person learning and learning at home, keep a checklist of supplies to bring to school.
- Set out clothes the night before to make morning routines simpler.
- Have your student eat breakfast.
- Practice wearing a mask at home to build up tolerance. Work with your student to find a mask that is comfortable for them and works for individual preferences.
- Allow time for students to ask questions and to process upcoming changes to their schedule.
Spring 2021 Meal Service
Starting the week of April 5th, Beaverton School District will begin to offer Hybrid In-Person Instruction and continue with CDL Instruction. The USDA has provided waivers that allow us to offer FREE meals to all children ages 1-18 for the rest of the 2020-21 school year. Beaverton School District is committed to making sure every child has access to healthy meals this school year.
Here's a brief look at how meals will be distributed starting the week of April 5th:
Hybrid students will access free meals at their school.
- Students will be able to eat lunch for free at school on days they attend in-person instruction.
- Free meal bags with breakfasts, lunches, and supper snacks will be available for students to take home at the end of their in-person school day to cover days they attend school from home and/or asynchronously.
- No registration is required.
- You can sign up for a 5-Day Meal bag for two weeks, until Hybrid starts. Select that block on the meal registration form and you are all set!
All CDL & FLEX students can access a free 5-Day Meal Bag every Wednesday from 11am-12pm.
- Meal bags include 5 breakfasts, 5 lunches, and 5 supper snacks.
- Families can select a school to pick up these meals in the Meal Bag Registration Form.

To Sick For School
Abbott BinaxNOW COVID-19 Testing
The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) supports COVID-19 testing in public and private K-12 schools in Oregon for students and staff who display symptoms of COVID-19. The Beaverton School District has registered to have Abbott BinaxNOW rapid antigen testing available for students and staff who develop primary symptoms of COVID-19 at school. Primary symptoms of Covid-19 include:
- New or different than usual shortness of breath
- New or different than usual coughing
- Fever of 100.4 or higher
- New loss of taste or smell.
The Abbott BinaxNOW test will only be administered to students who have consent from their parent(s) or legal guardian on file. The student must be capable and willing to perform a nasal swab test independently. The parent(s) or guardian can decline testing and opt to test their child with a healthcare provider. If there is any doubt as to whether a specimen may be safely self-collected by an individual, they should be referred to their healthcare provider for COVID-19 testing. Positive test results will be shared with the Local Public Health Authority to assist in contact tracing.
If you would like your child to participate in this testing program, please complete and return the consent form to the school office. You can find the consent form at this link under the COVID-19 Testing Information.
For further information on the Abbot BinaxNOW rapid antigen test see the following link: FDA information on BinaxNOW test.
