Tarbiyah Academy Parent Newsletter
Updates, Information, and Reminders for our TA Families
November 2, 2021
Assalamu Alaikum Dear TA Parents and Families!
I hope that this finds all of our families well and in the best of conditions!
Thank you and Jazakum Allahu khairun to our parents and families that continue to support us and our efforts here at Tarbiyah Academy. It takes enormous levels of individual effort, partnership, collaboration, and cooperation in order to produce a working whole as we do within our school community-alhamdullilah. May Allah continue to bless us and allow our efforts to produce optimal results that benefit and serve our young learners.
Our students are blowing us away each day with the connections they are making in their learning and experiences. Each of our teachers has stories to tell and share about the strides their students are making. Our staff and teachers take so much pride in their students' accomplishments and are so invested in their success. This often means working at home, working on the weekends, asking for advice and help when needed, and going above and beyond to create a classroom environment and experience that will allow your children to thrive and learn. Please do take a moment, if you're so inclined, and have witnessed some growth in your child thus far, to send a quick, positive email to one of your child's teachers to express appreciation for them and all that they do. I know it would mean so much to them.
As always, please do read ahead with announcements, updates, and reminders and do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Thank you and jazakum Allahu khairun.

No School this Friday, November 5th
Picture Day-Wednesday, November 3
Reminder, our school picture day is TOMORROW, Wednesday, November 3rd. There will be no make-up picture day, unfortunately. Your child should have brought home a picture order form a few weeks ago. If you will be purchasing pictures of your child, please fill out the form and send it to school before or on picture day. If you will be purchasing pictures online, there is no need to send the form to school.
On picture day, students will need to come to school dressed in their complete formal Friday uniform. Boys must wear their white shirts and tie with khaki pants and girls must wear their white blouse and red crossover tie. Middle schoolers will need to wear their blazers on top of their uniform this day. No students should come to school in their PE or regular uniform this day.
Please allow students extra time in the morning, so they arrive to school on time, dressed in their ironed formal attire, combed hair, and great big smiles!
Socktober-Thank You!
Some of our 4th-6th grade students came into school on a weekend to help sort through and label the items, as well as make craft kits for newly arrived Afghan refugee children. May Allah reward you all immensely for your Care and Kindness and multiply the reward for you and your families. We look forward to engaging our community in other service-learning projects throughout the year, insha Allah.
Discovery Day
Discovery Day is a 2-hour Open House event for families interested in Tarbiyah Academy for their children. During the Discovery Day event, families learn more about the TA mission & vision, the IB program, the admissions process, and receive lots more information related to our school. Please share with your family and friends who may be interested in enrollment at our school for the 2022-2023 academic school year.
Interested families can register here (please share the link!): https://playpass.com/Tarbiyah/discovery-day-monday-november-15-2021-AndihoP
Lost & Found
I'd like to remind all families to please label all items that belong to your child, including water bottles and especially, uniform items.
Now Accepting Cash for Lunch, Snack, and Water Purchases
After November 19th, we will accept cash only for lunch, snack, and water purchases. Until then, we will accept cash if families prefer to pay with cash; if students would like to purchase and do not have cash, we will charge TADS accounts.
Although we meticulously record student orders and purchases, we are receiving a high number of objections to lunch/snack/water charges. We hope that by transitioning to cash-only purchases, some of this confusion between school and home will be alleviated. Once again, we ask you to speak with your child and ensure that they understand whether or not they have permission to purchase food or water. We are unable to verify this before students make a purchase.
Finally, I'd like to remind all families to send your child with a water bottle to school. We have a large number of students who come to school each day without water bottles and we are not operating the water fountains at this time. This results in excessive water charges for some students.
By offering lunch/snack options and water for our students, we are only trying to create ease and convenience for our families, and do not wish for this to become a burden for any family.
