Return to School Information - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!!

We are beyond excited to welcome students back to our school on Monday October 19 – it will be great to see so many of our Fern Hill Bobcats! Here is some important information for our first day.

  • Cohort A = Students with the LAST name starting with A-K. These students will attend Monday and Tuesday in school. First 'face to face' day will be Monday, October 19.

  • Cohort B = Students with the LAST name starting with L-Z. These students will attend Thursday and Friday in school. First 'face to face' day will be Thursday, October 22.

  • Cohort A and B will be virtual on Wednesdays. All students will participate in the virtual day on Wednesday, October 21st and moving forward.

  • Special Education and ELD students will have the option to come four days (M, T, TH, & F). On Wednesdays, special education and ELD students will be virtual. First 'face to face' day will be Monday, October 19.

  • Our students in the Autistic Support classroom will have the option to attend school every day. First 'face to face' day will be Monday, October 19.

Our school day will begin at 9:10am and end at 3:10pm.

Parents must complete a health check screening daily. Please go to our symptoms checklist to remember the daily checks necessary to help keep everyone safe. THIS IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EVERY PARENT/GUARDIAN EACH MORNING PRIOR TO SENDING YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL.

On the first day of school, the youngest child in a family will receive their last name car tag and it should be displayed on the dash board for parent pick up. For new families, this is a way we know quickly which family is picking up the child. Please be sure you have this on your dash.

The Morning Drop-Off Procedures are:

  • 8:40am-9:05am.
  • Doors will not open until 8:40am. Please do not leave your child outside unattended.
  • If you arrive after 9:05am, please take your child to the front door/main office.
  • Pull in the black top area (same as a typical year).
  • Students should sit/exit on the passenger side.
  • We will not be able to open/close the doors as we normally do.
  • Parents should stay in the car. Please consider having your child practice getting in and out of the car before we return, as we will not be able to open the doors and help the children out of the car.
  • Students will enter at the library door entrance.
  • Please do not drive around another car to rush out of drop off earlier, please wait in line. We appreciate your patience.

The Afternoon Pick-Up Procedures are:

  • 3:10pm-3:25pm
  • Parents can start to ‘line up’ at 3pm. We will open the gate at 3pm.
  • Pull in the black top area (same as a typical year).
  • We will not be able to open/close the doors as we normally do.
  • Parents should stay in the car.
  • Cars will be directed to drive around the perimeter of the black top (no cutting across the center).
  • Cars will be directed to pull all the way up to our front of the line (near the kindergarten door). Mr. Usilton will be standing there to begin the loading the cars.
  • We will load the first 10-15 cars and then once they leave, we will direct all cars to move forward to the front and then we will load the next 10-15 cars.
  • We will not load cars from the library tree and back. These cars will wait until the first cars are loaded and leave. Then, we will direct these cars to move up to the start of the line. We will then load the cars.

Parents should also include the following in the daily backpack before coming to school:

  • Two extra face coverings. Students are permitted to wear masks or face shields. Sometimes masks get dropped and/or dirty. If a child does not have an additional mask and is in need of one, we do have extras available.
  • Water bottle – Our water fountains are turned off due to safety protocol. However, we do have bottled water available if needed.
  • IPad device should be fully charged and brought back/forth each day.
  • Your child's teacher will share specific information about what your child should bring back/forth to school each day by tomorrow.

Third Grade iPads are in!!!

Third grade new ipads with attached keyboard are in! Please send your third grader to school with their current ipad on their cohort day next week and we will exchange the ipad for them. If your child is remoting into hybrid or your child is a cyber student please contact Mrs. Zoretic at jzoretic@wcasd.net to set up a time to exchange their ipad. We will not be able to provide your child with a new iPad if you do not have the current iPad to exchange.

Also, VERY IMPORTANT - each student will need to reconnect Schoology to their Google accounts. Follow directions on these slides. If your child is coming to school for hybrid, the third grade teacher will help your child set this up. If your child is remoting in or a cyber student, your child will need to do this at home. If you have any questions as you are reconnecting Schoology to your Google account, you can reach out to Schoology_support@wcasd.net.

As a reminder, it is imperative that the iPads only be used by the student’s district email account. When the iPad is accessed by other gmail accounts etc, it disconnects Schoology and the student cannot access assignments.
