Livonia Jaycees

Stay in the Loop!

It's not what we ARE...it's what we DO.

The LIV, as we like to call ourselves, is a group of young professionals, 21 to 39 years of age. As a state, national, and international organization, we offer personal and professional development opportunities, social and business networking, and the forum and support to create positive change and impact within our community. In short, we build leaders!

May 2015 Recap

WEB (World Expo of Beer)

Thank you to all who came out to volunteer for WEB (World Expo of Beer)...AND THANK YOU CHRIS for getting us all there in an organized fashion, with places to crash!

This event is the largest Jaycee event in Michigan. By volunteering for a work shift under the Livonia Jaycees Chapter, the LIV gets paid and we get access to the free VIP beer tent afterwards! This is always a memorable event, and this year was no different. Mark your calendars for next year folks - May 20 & 21, 2016!

May's General Membership Meeting

May's GMM was all about credit and debit! Such a dreaded, yet very informative topic! Doug Mitchell of CAD Financial Consulting, LLC spoke with us about the basics of good credit and how to manage debit. Afterwards, everyone met up at our local favorite, One Under, for a social.

May's Thirsty Thursday!

A big thanks to Grant for hosting this past May's Thirsty Thursday at a brand new place, Midtown Grill on Plymouth Road! Everyone had a great time, kicking back and relaxing after work.

Annual Brainiac Challenge!

The LIV took on The Dirty (and other local chapters) in the Annual Brainiac Trivia Challenge on May 28 at Redford Jaycee Hall. I am proud to announce that one of the two LIV teams made it on the scoreboard in SECOND PLACE! Congratulations to Dan, Nikki, Jason, Angi, and Becky! Way to represent the LIV!

Wintergarden Poker Rooms

The good news is, we can check the first of three scheduled poker room dates off the 2015 calendar! Thank you to everyone who volunteered for a shift - you helped the LIV gross over $1,500!

We will need your help again in August,
as will be back at it, sellin' chips and making money at Wintergarden again. It's easy, fun, and results in money for our chapter! Put these August and October dates on your calendar and we will have sign-up sheets to come.

DATES:
June 1 - 3, 2015 - DONE
August 10 - 12, 2015
October 26 - 28, 2015

Ransom Update!

ALL ransom items required for the return of the LIV's Presidential Plaques have been completed! Thank you to everyone who played along and had fun in the spirit of thievery! This includes the dedicated souls who walked in the rain during Redford's Relay for Life.

Witness the return of what is rightfully ours at the July GMM on the 21!

Welcome our Newest Members!

Upcoming June 2015 Happenings

The Next LIV Meeting

Join the LIV for our June monthly meeting! We will be gathering at the Livonia Chamber of Commerce on the 3rd Tuesday of the Month, June 16, 2015 at 7:00 pm. We will welcome Bryant George as our guest speaker. As the founder and director of "Bridging Lost Gaps," a truly impactful program at Madonna University, he will speak to us about how he created a program from his passion, and how he is fostering leaders for the future.

After the meeting, we will be headed to O'Malley's Bar and Grill for our after-meeting social. Remember, we will be raffling off a gift card to O'Malley's and those who bring a new guest will get an extra raffle ticket!

June's Thirsty Thursday

Beth Plant is heading up June's Thirsty Thursday at On the Border in Novi (Haggerty and 8 Mile Road) from 5:30 - 7:00 pm on June 25. Join us in celebrating the arrival of Friday - and for the great company of course! All are welcome - LIV members and guests alike.
