Talley Street Update
August 25, 2022
December 1, 2022
Dear Talley Community,
I hope everyone had a great break. Each school year, Georgia schools are required to have lockdown drills, one per semester. Talley Street will be having our first lockdown drill next week. Teachers will be going over the procedures with the students beforehand to help them feel at ease. Though the lockdown drills make some students anxious, they are an important part of school safety. Once we have had the drill, I will send out an eblast to let parents and guardians know. I am unable to go into details about our procedures. However, I am happy to answer any general questions that you may have. Please feel free to reach out to me at bheaton@csdecatur.net. Have a great Friday and weekend!

CSD Nutrition Department
Help CSD School Nutrition
CSD Nutrition is asking parents to check their online meal accounts in infinite campus (Parent Portal). We have several families that have negative balances that need to be cleared.
For the last two years, the USDA offered school districts waivers to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students. Unfortunately, those waivers have now expired which means City Schools of Decatur no longer offer all students a free meal.
The traditional free & reduced lunch program does still exist for those who qualify. If you think your family qualifies for federal free or reduced lunch please reapply for the federal free & reduced lunch program today. Please visit, https://campus.csdecatur.org/campus/portal/parents/decatur.jsp to complete the online application. Paper applications may be picked up at the schools. You only need to re-apply one time each school year. Only one application per family needs to be completed.
Supply Chain Update
* Menus are subject to substitutions based on availability. We are facing unprecedented issues with the supply chain that will cause us to alter our posted menus with little to no notice. Currently, we may be replacing our deli turkey with chicken ham when deli turkey meat is listed on the menu. Please bare with us as we manage these changes.

The bulbs were planted near the Talley Street marquee and will bloom in the spring. Thank you to fifth-grade parent Elissa Pichulik for bringing this project to Talley! TigerFest
THE TIGERFEST PLANNING COMMITTEE NEEDS YOUR HELP
TigerFest will take place this year on April 22, 2023 from 10 to 2 PM. For those new to Talley, TigerFest is the PTO's largest fundraising event. It is a time where Talley families can come together to eat, shop, play, and socialize. This year, we are planning to have live music, food trucks, an artist market, bake sale, carnival games & prizes, bounce houses, and more.
We are in desperate need of planning assistance, particularly from parents of our 4th and 3rd graders. Many members of the planning team will be leaving Talley next year, and we would like to pass on the torch so TigerFest can continue for years to come.
If you would like to volunteer to help plan TigerFest, please click this link. ADDED BONUS: If you serve as a CHAIR/CO-CHAIR on the TigerFest planning committee (artists, music, volunteers, food, site transition, silent auction, communication, carnival games, carnival prizes), your family will be admitted to TigerFest for FREE.
