On Tuesday, Sept 24, Jennifer DeSutter, a lead staff developer from Columbia University's Teachers College, will be visiting PDES to support our grade K & 1 teachers launch their phonics workshops. Please reach out if you have any questions about the day.

Important Information....
- Administration Meeting: 8:30-10:30am- On Monday, all administrators will be meeting with district lawyers to review important information regarding school law and policy.
- Open House: Pre-K through Grade 2 will take place from 6-7pm on 9/24/19 & Grade 3 & 4 will be 6-7pm on 9/25/19. We will meet in the cafeteria and I will welcome and introduce teachers. Teachers will then head to their classrooms and families will listen to a few brief guest speakers- PTO and CARES and then visit classrooms. I will make an "All Call" at 6:55pm, thanking all families for attending and signaling the end of our event.
- I will be attending a mandatory RIDE training on 9/25 and 9/26. Lynn Dougherty will be our supporting administrator and district administration was requested for arrival and dismissal.
- Field Trip opportunity to the Museum of Work and Culture. Free admission for school groups and Transportation Funds for Title 1 Schools are available. - Grade 3 & 4 teachers are eligible to apply for a Carter Spark Grant for $1,000. This grant is for any teacher that works with students in those grades. It is a one page, easy application process and not a hard grant to receive. If you would like, I can write the grants for you, and you can just tell my how you would like to spend the money! - Thank you for completing your Policy Acknowledgement Checklist , if you still need to do so, please submit this list to Teresa. Thank you.
- Please return all Safety Manuals, in their signed grade level folders to me. All 5 safety manuals are currently still circulating.
- Don't forget our STAR ELA/Math Screening window opened on Monday, 9/9. Please be sure to sign-up for the computer lab and complete these tests before the window closes on October 4th. If accommodations need to be entered, please reach out to me and I will enter them for you.
- Our Safety Committee will be meeting with Officer Clark on October 2nd, 2019 for a question and answer session. If you have questions/feedback regarding lockdown procedures, please share them here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/15KednnYtTNuVnILiFWTNp6mxirt6i_DkZr2cTUuZr5U/edit?usp=sharing
- We will need to conduct an obstructed fire drill, by law. Please review secondary routes with your students. Our safety committee will review any new procedures before we actually practice them, so for now, please drill the way you have always drilled at PDES. Please see me with any questions/concerns.
- PLCs are scheduled to meet this Thursday, 9/26/19. Please be sure create an agenda and/or capture minutes.

- Picture Day! 9/30/19 Lifetouch Studios will be taking pictures at PDES on Monday, September 30th. Pictures will start at 9:15am and rooms will be called, beginning with our younger grades and progressing up.
