Third Grade Wax Museum
Third Grade's Wax Museum will be on Thursday, March 24 at 6:00 PM. Students will be practicing during the day and will be inviting 2nd grade to practice sharing their information. The students have worked hard on this special third grade project!
Pajama Day and DEAR Time
Since our students did an awesome job of collecting books for the HEB District Book Swap and met and exceeded the goal of 4,000 books, students and staff are invited to wear pajamas to school on Thursday and have a 30 minute DEAR time!
Several grades will be reading at 2:20 to 2:50 so feel free to join a class to read!
Please tell students this is an old fashion reading time, no electronics, tablets and such. Be sure everyone has a book in hand to read!
TELPAS Writing Samples Due
STAAR Testing
We will have two STAAR testing days next week. Tuesday is 4th grade writing and 5th grade math. Wednesday is 5th grade reading.
Both days will be jeans day and we will provide lunch for the entire staff. Thank you for your support and help on these important testing days.
Student Teacher Opportunity
If you are interested in working with a student teacher next year, it is time to turn in your application. Having a student teacher is a great way for you to share your knowledge and expertise and to get some extra help in the classroom!
Every new teacher needs a great supervising teacher and that could be you! If you are interested, please see Peggy for the form. They are due by March 28.

Look Forward
Even mild suspense creates tension, excitement and anticipation. You can harvest that in your classroom by using Look Forward. If you put an agenda on the board for the lesson or the morning, you can start students looking forward. If you add a catchy name to some of the topics, that seem all the more intriguing. If you call one "Mystery Activity," you can make the anticipation even more intense. You can go even farther by referring to it occasionally.
Here are some ways to refer to the future:
"Later we'll be making this really tricky, so stay with me now, even if it seems easy (or hard)."
"By the end of this class you will be able to......"
"This first step, you will want to show off to all of your friends!"

Remember that we don't send students out in the hallways to sit because of behavior issues or to finish work. Please use a Buddy Room or the Office. Students should not be sitting in the hallways if the whole class is not in the hallway working.
Be sure to call or text me at 817-454-6554 if you are going to be out for any reason.
Please be at your door at 7:45 to greet your students. It is important that you are in your classroom at the start of each day. Your arrival time needs to be before 7:45. Now is a good time to set new routines so you will be ready for the earlier start next year!
