What Will Virtual School Look Like
I know I said it last week and I am saying it again, virtual learning will look very different this fall. First of all, it will be mandatory and attendance will be taken. We will have whole, small group and one-on-one teaching. Students will participate in Art, Music and PE. I have attached a preview schedule, but please know things could shift and breaks will be added. Classroom teachers will send a classroom schedule with break times and ideas.
Virtual Kindergarten Jump Start
Here is the agenda for the Jump Start:

PTA Notes
An inclusive organization, Hanawalt PTA’s mission is to actively assist and support the education of the whole child through collaboration with parents, staff and the community.
Dear Hanawalt Families,
Welcome to a new and unprecedented school year! We are fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful community! Because of your support, we have been able to do amazing things for our students and teachers, but as you can imagine, this school year will be different and at the outset we will ask for your patience, understanding and support as we navigate the challenges and opportunities that this year is sure to bring us. Below is a list of the activities and events we normally support:
*School Wide Block Party *Read-A-Thon *Movie Night *Fall Skating Party *Back to School Parent Breakfast *T-shirts for all Students *Parents Night Out *Kidstriders *Scholastic Book Fairs *School Directory and Yearbook *Helping Hands *Teacher Appreciation *A Day in the Arts (ADITA) *Hanawalt Olympics/Baker Relays *Field Trip Funding *AND MORE!!!
This year, we will work with Hanawalt staff to make the best decisions about which events can be held safely. As a PTA, we are committed to making our continued support of our teachers and staff, as well as Hawk families in need a priority this year. Additionally, PTA will make t-shirts and masks available to all students and staff, and your generous financial support of these initiatives with greatly appreciated.
Please use this link to make your PTA contribution.
We, the Hanawalt PTA, support the Black Lives Matter Movement. We are proud to be a diverse school within a majority minority school district. It is important, as a PTA, that all of the members of our community feel included, valued, and accepted. It is our responsibility, as community members, to call out racism when we see it, regardless of the color of our own skin.
We want to hear from you about how we can make the Hanawalt PTA a more anti-racist community. We would also like to encourage parents of color to volunteer for the PTA
Executive Committee or other leadership positions. We cannot provide a complete perspective from your community without your input. Your voice matters. If you are interested in volunteering or have ideas of how we as an organization can be more inclusive, please email us at HanawaltElementaryPTA@gmail.com or text/call Molly Stagner at (515) 664-3737. We look forward to seeing you at our first (virtual) PTA meeting on September 15th at 6:30pm!
Your PTA Executive Committee, Molly Stagner, LeAnn Thongvanh, McB McMannis, Michelle Garner and Lindi Nelson
