Ezra Jack Keats Bookmaking Competition
The Ezra Jack Keats Atlanta Bookmaking Competition promotes the art and craft of original bookmaking in the classroom, and invites students in Atlanta Public Schools grades 3–12 to design, write, and create their own books. Beginning with 2016-2017 school year, the Ezra Jack Keats Foundation is partnering with Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System, Atlanta Public Schools Media Services , GAS Art Studios, and Blue Cloud Literacy Collaborative to host Atlanta Public School’s first annual Ezra Jack Keats Bookmaking Competition. Students in grades 3-12 in Atlanta public schools are eligible to participate.
Under the supervision of teachers/librarians, students will write, illustrate, and hand-bind original picture books based on a topic of their choice. Winners in each grade level category will be awarded a $500.00 prize at the EJK Awards Ceremony that will be held in February 2017.
