Fiedler Falcon News
VIRTUAL LEARNING PLAN
From the Principal
As I am sure you know, starting on Monday, all of our Fiedler students will be online through January 29th. Please know that we understand that this will be challenging. We would love to have all of our students in the building, and hope that is possible again soon.
Your child's teacher will be communicating a daily schedule with you shortly. It will be sent home on Thursday/Friday and it will be posted in their Google Classroom. Your students will have live instruction in Math, Language Arts, Writing, and Social Studies/Science each day.
We are not planning for students to sit in front of the computer for 6 hours through the day. There will be time for breaks, lunch, some open sessions where students can have some individual/small group support, and hopefully even some time to socialize and have fun!
One benefit to all of us being virtual is students will be able to see all of their classmates each day, instead of just their group! This new format also allows all students to have contact with the teacher every day.
It will be helpful if you are able to create a designated workplace for your student. It is best if your student works in the same place each day to signify to the brain that it is time for school. Ideally, students should have a place where, when their camera is on, only the wall behind them will show. It should be a place where all of their school materials can be stored and organized. I also suggest that your student use earbuds or headphones when participating during live online instruction so that any noise going on inside your house does not distract the learning process of others.
It will be important to check Google Classroom. The STREAM will be used for announcements and the CLASSWORK tab will be used to post assignments. There is a short video link in this newsletter called HOW TO USE GOOGLE CLASSROOM FOR PARENTS that may be beneficial to you.
Change is hard, and stress levels are high right now. We are all learning together through these challenging times, so we appreciate your continued patience, flexibility, and support.
We will do our best to support you under our current circumstances. Our office at Fiedler will remain open from 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM each day. The phone number is 810-591-9925. Please reach out to us if you have a concern.
