Principal's Corner

Welcome back from what I hope was a wonderful winter break. I hope you were able to enjoy time with family and friends celebrating the holidays and welcoming in the new year. We were excited to welcome back our students' smiling faces this morning.


We are hitting the ground running as we return from break and near the half way point in our school year. Winter NWEA testing begins this week starting with the math test followed by the reading test the week of January 9th. We are also almost to the halfway point of 2nd trimester. Progress reports will be posted at the end of the day on January 13th.


Please continue to reach out to your child's teacher or the office with any questions or concerns.

Capturing Kids Hearts

January Respect

This month students will be learning about and practicing respect through their Capturing Kids Hearts Leadworthy lessons. According to CKH, respect is the wilingness and ability to act professionally and thoughtfully with ourselves and others. Acting with respect contributes to a positive culture, decreases conflict and encourages empathy.

5th Grade Music Concert

January 5th 6:00 and 7:30

This year our 5th grade students will have the opportunity to put on a music concert for their parents and families. The concert will be directed by our music teacher, Mrs. Kristi Oostdyk and will take place at the Fine Arts Center on January 5th. The students are already working hard to prepare for this concert. The theme for the concert is Hawaiian. Students can dress for this theme if they would like but it is not required.


Please note the updated concert times by homeroom teacher.

6:00- Oostindie, Trapp, Raab and Ciokiewicz

7:30- Adams, Cross, McCrumb, and Boehm

NWEA Winter Testing

Winter NWEA testing is coming up. Classes will be taking the math NWEA test the week of January 3rd and the reading NWEA test the week of January 9th. Your child's teacher will be in touch about the exact day they are testing. Please be sure that your child gets a good nights sleep the night before and eats breakfast that morning so they are ready to do their best. We are excited to see how much the students have learned and grown since the start of the school year.

Pine Street Spelling Bee

Our Pine Street Spelling Bee is coming up. Any students that signed up will take part in a written pre-test on January 11th. Students that make it to the next round will be announced on January 12th. The Pine Street Spelling Bee is scheduled for January 25th. The winner and runner up will then move on the the Allegan County Bee held in February. Good luck spellers! Happy Spelling! If you student signed up for the spelling be they should be coming home with a study packet for over winter break.

Basketball Intramural Sign Ups

Basketball intramurals will be starting January 18th. If you are interested in participating please fill out the attached sign up form and turn in to the office by January 13th.
