Dear Mason Families,
Having our students back in our building the last two weeks has been amazing! Please be sure you are completing our mandatory health screening with your child daily at home before they come to school. If your child has any unusual symptoms (listed below) or a fever over 100.4, please keep them home and seek professional medical care. We are doing our best to make sure our students are safe and we appreciate you assistance in this process.
Dr. Roy Bishop, Jr.
Principal
P.S. Don't forget about our Black and Orange Spirit Wear Days on Thursday (9.29) and Friday (9.30) of this week! We are looking for our hallways to be filled with Orange and Black this week!
Mason Dance-a-thon Information!!! We need your help!
Grown ups: Follow these 3 Simple Steps:
- First Register with the school identifier code 5d3f1b80976c0 or Login to your parent dashboard and complete your child’s Student Fundraising Webpage with a picture and personal message.
- Make an online donation using the red Donate button.
- Share with friends and family - they want to help! Using the share tools on your parent dashboard send 10-15 emails and/or text messages, then share on Facebook or Twitter. This will help your child reach their goal (possibly within 24/48 hours!
Does your child have any unusual symptoms from the list below?
A fever?
A new or worsening cough?
Headache and sore throat?
Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing?
Runny nose and/or congestion?
Body aches and/or tiredness?
Vomiting and/or diarrhea?
New loss of smell or taste?
If the answer to any of the questions above is “yes”, keep your child home and consult your primary care physician. If a doctor determines that the symptoms are due to another diagnosis, or COVID-19 is ruled out, your child may return to school after being fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications. Medical documentation is needed to come back into the school environment.

Halloween Celebrations
Can you believe the end of October is next week?!?! Halloween celebrations at Mason will look very different this year. It is not our intention to add extra stress to our families by asking your child to come to school with a costume. Therefore, if your child already has a costume, feel free to have them wear it. If you do not intend to purchase a costume, your child can celebrate by wearing black and orange. To ensure that everyone can join in the fun, October 29th and 30th will be Black and Orange Spirit Wear days at Mason. Students in Cohort A who wear their costumes to school Thursday (9.29) will wear them in the morning and take them off before lunch. Friday (9.30) is a half day, so students in Cohort B who wear their costumes to school will simply wear them home. We are not allowing volunteers/adults in the building for our festivities this year and will not be having any type of parade. Due to peanut allergies and COVID, we will not be allowing snacks or desserts to be brought into the classroom by students to be shared during the classroom party. Students will be celebrating with each other in the classroom while watching a movie. Teachers will be providing a snack for all students to eat during their classroom celebration.
Remember, masks (beyond the district approved ones), weapons and clothing with offensive language or logos are not permitted. If your child(ren) would not like to partake in the festivities, please let me know and we will have alternative activities for your child to do during this time. Thank you so much for your support as we do our best to support our students during this difficult time.
