A Message from the Principal
Dear PVES Families,
As we begin our final nine weeks of school and it starts to truly feel like spring I can't help but feel excited but as always, a bit wowed by how quickly the school year seems to pass! We have lots to accomplish before June 7th and we look forward to a strong finish with our students and families!
As I think of the wrapping up this school year, I can't help but think ahead to the next. This year, we've looked at the analytics attached to our Pleasant Valley Post and found that not many many people are opening or engaging with it. Perhaps this is due to teacher weekly newsletters, SeeSaw, Dojo, my weekly emails, our school facebook page, etc. I realize there's a blitz of information and this newsletter may serve less of a purpose than it once did. As a result, we are considering whether we will continue it next year. If you have feedback you'd like to offer one way or the other on this topic, please email me as I'd like to hear it.
As we look ahead, the week of May 6-10 is Teacher, Nurse and Staff Appreciation Week! I, our SCA and our PTO typically put together some things to celebrate our staff during these days. If you would like to participate by recognizing teachers, our nurse, our office staff, custodians or support staff, please feel free to do so with words of thanks, cards or tokens of gratitude. All of these gestures are greatly appreciated if you and/or your student are so inclined to participate.
Have a wonderful April! Thank you for all you do for your student and our school!

Do You Want to Recognize a Teacher Who Goes Above and Beyond?
You can say thank you to a teacher who has impacted you or your child by nominating him/her for the Inspire Award!
This award aims to recognize teachers who go above and beyond in the classroom. Parents, students, pre-service teachers, or classroom volunteers may submit nominations.
The Inspire Award allows the School Board and community to regularly and publicly celebrate the impact that RCPS teachers make each day, whether on a particular child or class, or by encouraging a future teacher.
A teacher may be recognized once during a school year and submissions must be received ten days prior to a board meeting. The person making the nomination will be invited to share his/her nomination essay of up to 200 words with the school board, and will make the presentation of a certificate to the honored teacher.
The nomination form can be found below or on the RCPS homepage under the “Parents/Students” tab. We've also linked it below for your convenience.
