Open House is Coming!!!!

Open house is the opportunity for parents to come and watch their children learn. It will be held on October 10th. There will be two sessions with the first session beginning at 9:30 and ending at 11:30 a.m. The second session will begin at 1:00 p.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. In an effort to keep the numbers of parents in classrooms at one time down, you may only attend one of the two sessions. Parents and guardians can sign up to attend using the link below to sign up in advance. There will also be paper sign ups at the main entrance to the school, for those who do not sign up in advance. All TPES parents and guardians will be permitted to attend at least one session. Having an electronic sign up allows the staff to expedite entrance to the building without having large groups of parents waiting. Signing up in advance is not required but an option to reduce the wait time for signing in to the Open House.

If you are registered to attend Open House using the Eventbrite link, please print your ticket and bring it to TPES for entry to the Open House. Parents and guardians who don't have access to a printer continue to be able to use the Eventbrite registration. The registration can be saved by doing a screenshot and shared when entering the school.

Although TPES is using Eventbrite to ease the sign in process, OPEN HOUSE IS FREE TO ALL PARENTS AND GUARDIANS.

Special Events Coming UP at TPES

Word Parade

This year, as a literacy initiative, we will be having a literacy parade or word parade! Please note this is not a Halloween activity and will not be associated as such. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

When: Friday October 21st at 10:15.

Where: K-2 Students will march around the school and parents can take photos as they walk.

This is weather permitting for parents. If it rains, we will march inside and parents won't attend.

Fall Festival

Although Takoma Park E.S. does not do Halloween celebrations, we will have a robust Fall Festival. There are no costumes allowed during the event. The Fall Festival dates will be announced in early October. We will need parent volunteers to make this event a success and loads of donations of items for the kids. Dates and sign ups for volunteers and donations will be sent out in the October 2nd.

Outdoor Lunch

Please remember outdoor lunch is a privilege. If children misbehave or fail to follow the directions of the adults outside, they will be sent inside for disciplinary action. If students consistently misbehave for outdoor lunch, they will be denied outdoor lunch. This is not what we want but we must make sure all children eating outside are respectful, responsible listeners and follow the outdoor lunch rules. The rules are shared by the parents outside and include but are not limited to the following:

• Eat your lunch
• finish eating before getting up to do other things
• sharing food is not allowed
• follow the directions of the adults
• clean up after yourself
• stay between the cones in the kiss and ride
