Principal's Colt Corner, 1st Edition
Dear Colt Parents,
I hope this finds each of you well this summer. With August arriving today, I wanted to send this 1st edition of the Principal's Colt Corner to you, which includes some important back to school dates and information. The Colt Corner is one of the main sources of communication with our parents in addition to our website. Please be sure to check this Smore weekly during the school year for upcoming and important information.
Our CMS staff are gearing up for a great school year and we are looking forward to one of the best that CMS has ever experienced. We are excited to welcome back our returning Colts in addition to our new Colts joining the CMS family this year. I invite you to follow us on Twitter at @cmscolts to get a peek into the daily life at CMS. Enjoy the rest of the students summer break and we will see you around campus soon!
BEST,
David Arencibia, Ed.D.

Nutrition Nuggets
Nutrition Nuggets: Welcome back! Nutrition Services is excited about the upcoming school year! The week of August 7th elementary and middle schools will receive the Calendar Menu to distribute to households. Attached is a copy of the calendar menu, it may also be viewed on the districts website. Nutrition information may be viewed through the nutrition services website or by downloading the new Meal Viewer app through the apple or android store.
In accordance with program guidelines, the Free and Reduced application will be available online as part of skyward registration. When registering for the 2017-2018 school year, parents or guardians should complete the Free and Reduced application. The application may also be filled out anytime electronically at www.schoollunchapp.com. For those parents that still would like to complete a paper application, your campus will receive a limited number of paper applications for free and reduced meal benefits the week of August 7th.
Elementary and Middle school students receive a 4 digit PIN code to access their meal account in the cafeteria. The cafeteria manager will place the student list with PIN numbers in each teacher's box the week before school starts. Each teacher will help the students learn their 4 digit PIN within the first two weeks of school. This will help the breakfast and lunch lines move quickly and allow the students more time to enjoy their meal. In addition, the menu for the first two weeks of school has been simplified to allow students time to learn how to select a meal.
If you have questions about the Nutrition Services program, please call ext. 5615 or email julie.telesca@gcisd.net.
