CCR Update
St. Charles East-August 26, 2022
Scheduling 2022-2023
The CCR Office would like to share the following reminders about student schedules:
Students wishing to make a preferential course request should use this request form to submit it to the CCR Office. We will do our best to honor your requests with respect to the following factors:
1) Availability of seats in the class 2) The class meets during the same class period as the dropped class and 3) The added class maintains progress toward graduation.
Class schedules will not be changed to accommodate a teacher preference or lunch/study preference. (See the Course Offering Book for scheduling guidelines.)
Adding a course deadline is the tenth day of the semester—August 23, 2022.
Dropping a course deadline is the fifteenth day of the semester—August 30, 2022.
A request for a course change is NOT a guarantee that the change is possible. Students made course requests in the winter of the previous school year and our master schedule was built to honor those requests. Any changes will be made based on availability.
Senior Meetings
The CCR team met with all seniors on 8/24 & 8/25 through their Social Studies classes to walk through the college application process or the next steps for their post-secondary plans. Each senior will then meet individually with their school counselor regarding their post-secondary plan during the months of September and October. Seniors can start booking appointments with their counselor using their You Can Book Me link found on the CCR homepage or in their email signature line.
College Application/Post Secondary Workshops
The College & Career Readiness Team will be offering workshops in the LRC-East & West Labs to assist our seniors with their post-secondary planning for college, military, trades, etc. These workshops will run periods 1-8 every Wednesday from August 31 until October 26th. Seniors are reminded to attend during a free period in their schedule.
Attention Seniors: Cap & Gowns Have Been Ordered
Commencement is a special day in the life of every Saint! The traditional graduation cap, gown, and tassel are important iconic symbols of your success and pride in your school. We want you to look your best at graduation while wearing your school’s official colors--the Orange & Black! Seniors that attended the Class Meetings on Tuesday, August 16th filled out the order form for their cap and gown. No further action is necessary to order. If you missed the class meeting, please stop by the CCR Office to place your order. Details for the graduation ceremony can be found on the East High School & CCR Websites and has been linked here for your convenience. Herff Jones also provided a packet to seniors interested in ordering optional announcements and accessories to celebrate your accomplishments! Extra packets can be picked up in the CCR or Student Life Offices.

College Visits-In Person & Virtual
Virtual campus visits are an excellent way to learn more about prospective colleges and universities. These visits can be a precursor to an in-person visit over the summer or in the fall. Virtual campus tour websites are listed below:
All virtual and in-person meetings will be in the LRC (unless otherwise noted) and students must obtain a pass from the Office of College and Career Readiness at least one day prior to attending. This pass then should be signed by the teacher of the class for that period. While we encourage students to attend these meetings, please note that what is happening in the classroom is more important. Teachers may deny the request to miss class if they feel it is in the student’s best interest to be in attendance.
If you have a conflict with a college visit, please email Patty.Hofer@d303.org for the college rep's contact information.

The Voice of Democracy is the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ premier scholarship program. Each year nearly 40,000 high school students compete for more than $2 million in scholarships and incentives, with a top prize of $30,000. Students compete by writing and recording an audio essay on an annual patriotic theme. The 2022-2023 audio-essay competition topic is: Why is the Veteran Important? The Voice of Democracy is open to students in grades 9-12. The VFW Post 5036 will award a $1,000 renewable scholarship for the local winner. All entries should be submitted to the CCR Office or the local St. Charles VFW Post 5036 by October 21, 2022 in order to meet the national deadline.
