NOW IS THE TIME TO COMPLETE THE FAFSA-if you have not done so already!
Students that plan on attending college next year will need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA window opened on October 1, 2019 and will close on April 15, 2020.
Several colleges will begin sending out Financial Aid packages WELL before April 15th. Please try to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible. It requires student and parent tax information that was submitted this past April 2019 (2018 Federal Tax Return Information). Some colleges have FAFSA deadlines as early as December 15th if students want to be considered for Academic Scholarships.
All students and parents must also apply for an FSA ID. This serves as your electronic signature on the FAFSA application.

College Goal Sunday- February 23rd
College Goal Sunday is offered in several locations around Indiana on Sunday, February 23rd from 2-4pm. At these locations, families can bring all of their tax information and complete the FAFSA form online. If you have any questions see guidance.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND DEADLINES
Vincennes University Scholarship Application- Any student that plans on attending Vincennes should print out a scholarship application on www.vinu.edu/scholarships Scroll down and click on the 2018-2019 Scholarship Application. DEADLINE TO SUBMIT SCHOLARSHIPS IS JANUARY 17th, 2020.
Bedford North Lawrence Scholarship Foundation-This scholarship is open to any senior that attends BNL Career Center. Applications are available in the BCHS guidance office or the Career Center guidance office. DEADLINE IS JANUARY 24th, 2020.
Knights of Pythias Scholarship- This is a $1,000 Scholarship available to any senior with a GPA of 3.0 or above. ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE TYPED-no handwritten applications will be accepted. Two essays are also required. Apply online at www.knightsofpythiasofnewcastle.com Click on “event forms” on top of page..then on public form/rules. Paper applications are available in Guidance. See Guidance with questions. ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE POSTMARKED ON OR BEFORE JANUARY 25th, 2020.
ELKS Legacy Award– This scholarship is open to college bound seniors who are children or grandchildren of dues paying Elks. Applications are available online at www.enf.elks.org/leg DEADLINE IS JANUARY 31, 2020
Nancy Jaynes Memorial Scholarship Award- This scholarship is open to an Indiana high school senior whose parent is battling breast cancer or who has lost a parent to breast cancer. Applications are available on line www.breastcancerplate.org Click on the scholarship tab and follow the link to download the application. DEADLINE IS JANAURY 31, 2020.
USI Art Scholarships-Awarded to incoming students majoring in art or art education to be used towards tuition. Recipients are selected based on artistic excellence and potential to excel in creative and professional endeavors through portfolio review. Click here to find out more information. BETA SIGMA PSI Lutheran Fraternity Scholarship- This scholarship is open to Lutheran men that plan on attending IU Bloomington, Purdue University, or University of Illinois. There is no obligation to join the fraternity. They also have a Martin Luther Scholarship that is for students that plan on attending any accredited 4 year college or university. Applications are available online at http://scholarships.betasigmapsi.org. Make sure you choose the application for the appropriate school. DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 15, 2020
Dick Moren Agri-Business Committee Scholarship- This scholarships is ipen to a high school senior in Jackson County that will be pursuing a degree in Agriculture at a college or university. Applications are available in the guidance office. DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 28, 2020
Loretta M. Burd Scholarship Program (Centra Credit Union)- Applicants must be members of Centra Credit Union with accounts in good standing. The scholarship is based on academic achievement, school and community involvement, and an essay. Applications are available online at www.centra.org/scholarships. DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 28, 2020
Indiana State Teachers Association (ISTA) – 4 scholarships available online at www.ista-in.org Click on the Our Profession tab then click on Awards and Scholarships.
· The Louis B. Russell Memorial Scholarship for ethnic minority students pursuing education in industrial technology, vocational education, or technical preparation
· Justine M. Harrell Scholarship for a dependent of an ISTA member to pursue education major
· Damon P. Moore Scholarship for ethnic minority student planning to pursue a teaching license.
· ISTA Career Scholarship for a dependent of an ISTA member to pursue any major.
· ISTA Educator Scholarship for a dependent of an ISTA member planning to pursue a teaching license.
ALL SCHOLARSHIPS ARE WORTH $1,000 AND DUE MARCH 1

Jackson Lodge #146 Gary Wirt Scholarship– This application is open to seniors accepted to college or vocational schools. The scholarship is based on need, leadership ability, community service, academic standing, and good moral character. Application packets are available in guidance. Applications must be POSTMARKED BY MARCH 1
Shake and Blevins Scholarship- For any student attending 2 or 4 year college. Applications can be found on the high school webpage under the Guidance-Scholarship tab. There are also printed copies in the guidance office. DEADLINE IS MARCH 1
Brownstown Health Scholarship- For a BCHS student pursuing health related career. Applications can be found on the high school webpage under the Guidance-Scholarship tab. There are also printed copies in the guidance office. DEADLINE IS MARCH 1
Robertson Scholarship– must live in Brownstown Township. May be used at any 2 or 4 year college. Applications can be found on the high school webpage under the Guidance-Scholarship tab. There are also printed copies in the guidance office. DEADLINE IS MARCH 1
Kiwanis Club Scholarship- This scholarship is open to any Indiana high school senior attending a post secondary program. Scholarship forms can be typed and printed at the following website www.indkiw.org Forms are also available in guidance. DEADLINE IS MARCH 2.
Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation- This scholarship provides need based scholarships to military families to support eligible children of Marine or Navy Corpsman. Applications and eligibility requirements can be found at mcsf.org/apply. DEADLINE IS MARCH 3, 2020
USI Alumni Association Scholarships-Recognizes and promotes the ideals of leadership in an Indiana high school graduating senior who will bring those qualities to USI. Click here for the application Leadership Award Deadline: March 8, 2020
Rumpke Medora Landfill Scholarship– This scholarship is open to graduating seniors in Jackson County, pursuing a two or four-year degree at an accredited institution. Applications are available in guidance. Student must answer some essay questions regarding their participation in recycling. Applications must be postmarked by March 13th or emailed by March 13th.
Bedford Board of Realtors Scholarship- This scholarship is open to seniors living in Lawrence or surrounding counties. Applicants must be a child or grandchild or legal guardians of a primary/secondary member of the Bedford Board of Realtors. Applicants must also have a 2.0 or above GPA. Applications are available in guidance. DEADLINE MARCH 15th, 2020.
Schneck Medical Center Foundation – scholarship available to students pursuing allied health careers (radiology, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy, surgical technology, etc.) Amount of scholarship varies, but several are given to Jackson County students. Applications are available on the web at www.schneckmed.org. DEADLINE IS MARCH 15.
Phi Beta Psi Scholarship- This scholarship is open to students planning to enter the fields of Medical Technology, Medical Lab Technology, Radiology Technology, Nuclear Medicine Technology, or Cytotechnology. Applications are available in guidance. The Applications must be mailed to the scholarship chair by NO LATER THAN MARCH 15, 2020.
Jackson County Pork Producers Scholarship- This award is given to a Jackson County resident with experience or background in agriculture. Pick up an information sheet in Guidance. DEADLINE IS MARCH 27th.
C. Louis Sommers Scholarship-open to BCHS students that have participated in athletics in high school. Applications are available on the high school webpage under the Guidance-Scholarships tab. Printed copies are also available in the guidance office. DEADLINE IS APRIL 1.
United Producers Inc. Scholarship- Applicants must be a Preferred Member of UPI or a child or grandchild of a Preferred member. Students must be seniors planning on studying an agriculture related field. Applicants must submit and application and essay. Applications are available at www.uproducers.com or in guidance. DEADLINE IS APRIL 1, 2020
Jackson County Cattleman’s Association Scholarship- Preference will be given to applicants pursuing careers in the Beef Cattle Industry. Applications are available in guidance and require a letter of reference and an essay. DEADLINE IS APRIL 1, 2020
Indiana Sheriff’s Association, Inc. Scholarship- Given to students pursuing a career in law enforcement or criminal justice at an Indiana college. Must be a member or dependent child or grandchild of a member of the association. Applications are available in guidance. Students must have taken the SAT or ACT. ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED BEFORE APRIL 1 TO THE INDIANAPOLIS OFFICE.
Health and Human Sciences Scholarship- This scholarship is open to any senior who has chosen to study a career in the Health and Human Sciences Field ( Registered Dietician, FACS Education, Child Development, Textiles, Chef School, etc.) Applications are available in guidance. DEADLINE IS APRIL 1, 2020
Jackson County Farm Bureau Scholarship- This Scholarship is open to high school seniors accepted or applied to a career/vocational, 2 year, or 4 year program and have a career path in Agriculture or related field. A parent or guardian must have an activ INFB membership for at least 2 years prior to the scholarship year. Applications must be submited to the Jackson County Farm Bureau Office or emailed. All applications must be typed. Applications can be downloaded HERE. DEADLINE IS 4:30pm APRIL 3, 2020
Freetown High School Alumni Association Academic Scholarship- To be eligible for the scholarship students need to have attended Freetown Elem. School for one year, be a resident of Freetown School District at time of graduation, and begin some type of higher education by fall 2019. Scholarship applications are available in guidance. DEADLINE IS APRIL 15.
Justin Pranger Memorial Scholarship- given to a BCHS students to attend any 2 or 4 year college. Applications can be found on the high school webpage under the Guidance-Scholarship tab. Printed copies are also available in the guidance office. DEADLINE IS APRIL 15
Jackson County Sheriff's Department DARE Scholarship- Students must be Jackson County residents and a DARE graduate. The scholarship requires a letter of recommendation and an essay. Applications are available in guidance. DEADLINE IS APRIL 27
IUPUC Scholarships– If you plan on attending IUPUC next year and have already been accepted please stop by and see Mr. Koch or Mrs. Stuckwisch. Scholarships are available to qualified individuals, but we must know that you plan on attending IUPUC.
IVY TECH ASAP Program
Do you want to earn your Associates Degree in 11 months instead of 2 years?
This is selective program to help students move through the first two years of college at a quicker pace in order to transfer to a 4 year college.
Specific GPA requirements must be met.
