Don't Forget to Vote Tuesday, August 2
Don't forget to get out and vote on Tuesday. As a reminder, many of our schools are used as polling locations.
Please use caution in the parking lots since we do have summer and back to school activities going on around the district.
How to Support Teachers outside of Amazon Wish Lists Or Crowdfunding Platforms
There have been many new stories about things like Amazon Wish Lists and Donors Choose or things like GoFundMe to help teachers raise funds for their classrooms. These are not allowed at Nixa. The reason why is that any fundraising or donations made to a teacher or school must be handled in the correct way to make sure we are compliant with all state laws and regulations. We also need to make sure that all things in our classrooms are appropriate for that classroom (books, technology, cleaning supplies, furniture, other supplies, etc.).
To make sure that our district is doing things correctly, we have set up a simple way for you to donate toward a building or a classroom. You can go to https://www.nixapublicschools.net/donate and find the school you'd like to donate to. If you want to donate toward a specific teacher or classroom, you can indicate that in the notes of the donation.
Some teachers have set up or will set up specific fundraisers for their classrooms. These will all be set up on SchoolPay. So, if you see a teacher send out a link for a fundraiser on SchoolPay for their classroom or a cause, please donate and support their cause.
Some buildings will have fundraisers on specific platforms throughout the year. If you see something come out from the building, these are also good ways to donate to support the building and teachers.
If you want to support or fulfill teacher wish lists feel free to reach out to triciachapman@nixaschools.net.
Back to School Bash Open Donations
We always have about $5,000-$10,000 in last minute expenses each year and if anyone would like to donate toward the bash below is the link.
It may be difficult to understand the impact that one can bring to a child through a random act of kindness. We are calling for the community to rally around our annual Back to School Bash. This event provides hundreds of Nixa students with specific school supplies and essential items they need.
Back to School Bash: Volunteers Needed
We supply nearly 700 Nixa students and their families with comfort and piece-of-mind when it comes to back to school. This cannot happen without the time, energy, and dedication of our volunteer teams.
Our volunteers for the Back to School Bash are the life of the event. They ensure our attendees are comforted and find all of the items they need to start their new school year. If you are interested in volunteering in the morning, afternoon, or the whole day, we ask you to complete this brief interest form. We will share more information about your responsibilities and the event as we get closer to the date.
