ADOPTING THE NGSS

In the beginning of November two more states, Connecticut and Michigan have adopted the NGSS as their official state science curriculum. They join the previous adopters AR, CA, DE, IA, IL, KS, KY, MD, NJ, NV, OR, RI, VT, WA and the District of Columbia.

That brings the total count to 17: 16 states and DC. If you are like me and searching for NGSS aligned resources, you are hoping this number gets bigger - and quickly!

NEW MODEL CURRICULUM WEBSITE UPDATES

This week changes were made to the NJDOE science model curriculum website. Check into the website to see the updates. This is definitely a work in progress (you may note that some of the SLO links are in the process of being updated). Note that the middle school documents have gone from 5 to 7-8 units.

These documents can be found at: http://www.state.nj.us/education/modelcurriculum/sci/

NJSELA GOOGLE DRIVE IS COMING

NJSELA will be using Google Drive to share items with the membership. The goal is to create a common space where information can be made easily available to all (think of all those surveys about districts' course sequencing and other goodies we keep asking each other for!). To keep this resource authentic, it will be limited to our membership therefore it will be important that you provide an email address that you use for accessing shared Google resources when you pay for your membership. Stay tuned for more details - we are anticipating a 'go-live' date that corresponds to the winter roundtable.

HAVE A NEWS ITEM TO SHARE?
