Six Flags Read to Succeed
We are approaching the deadline for students to return their Six Flags reading logs. Students who have logged at least 6 hours of reading will receive a free Six Flags ticket. We need these reading logs signed by a parent and turned back in to the homeroom teacher by February 22nd. Please use the link below if you need a new or additional reading log.
Techno Expo
Techno Expo will be held on February 25th at 5:30 p.m. Select students will be asked to present a technology piece that they have created this school year.
Math
In math, students were able to make connections to their previous learning, to be successful in their post-test. Also, this week, the newsletter for module 8 went home. Please take a minute to read the newsletter, and take a note of how to help your child be a better mathematician. Next week, students are going to subtract two-digit numbers.
Science
This week we have started a new unit with animals! We have learned so far that animals can be classified into categories. These categories are amphibians, reptiles, mammals, fish and birds. We are having a blast learning about why certain characteristics of animals put them into a particular category. Ask your child what they have learned this week about amphibians, reptiles, mammals, fish and birds!
Readers & Writers Workshop
In Reader's Workshop, we worked on identifying character traits of characters in a story. We then used text evidence to support our thinking.
In Writer's Workshop, we continued our study of character traits and practiced writing about character traits of ourselves and others.
Social Studies
This week in Social Studies we wrapped up our unit on economics by reviewing what we have learned about goods and services, needs and wants, and producers and consumers. Ask your child what they know!
