Critical Teaching

Last week, a lot of the articles focused on critical thinking, collaboration and being creative. If we are instilling these skills in our students effectively, we know modelling of these skills should also be happening then too. What do we do to promote being creative, thinking critically and being collaborative? What are our next steps or one of these 3Cs that we wish to work on? The text, "Creating Thinking Classrooms" by Garfield Gini-Newman and Roland Case is a great read that speaks specifically of how we can instill the 3Cs into our classrooms. The latest edition of Educational Leadership is all about co-teaching and how we can co-teach most effectively. Please let us know if you'd like a copy of above the texts.

Thinking about Technology

The various articles listed below are about thinking in relation to technology. We are all at very different spots in our learning, and the importance of having a growth mindset with technology is huge. We likely will not keep up with our students/children. That's ok! What we need to be able to do is ask the right questions, to know the basics of a few programs, and to get the technology into the learner's hands (while teaching students about digital citizenship). We need to know and believe that technology is important to our students, yet that good teaching still frames everything we do in our classrooms. Hopefully a couple of the articles will meet a variety of the learning needs we have as adults!
