Reading Bingo!

First Quarter Reading BINGO Sheets will be sent home with your Lincoln Lion this week. We are excited to watch them BUILD their reading skills throughout the year! Any student who turns in their BINGO sheet at the end of the quarter will be able to participate in Flashlight Reading time. Please contact Katie McCormick @ mccormi6707@gmail.com with any questions

Grab N Go Fridays

Once again, Lincoln is partnering with the Ozaukee Food Alliance (formerly known as the Saukville Community Food Pantry) to provide any child residing within the district with snacks and easy-to-prepare meals. If your child was in the program last year, we will still need you to fill out the registration form for this year. Letters and registration forms will be coming home soon, so please check your child's backpack. We also have extra copies in our office vestibule. We hope to start distributing to families before the end of September; however, families are able to register at any point during the school year.

Request for Pop Tabs

Lincoln students, families, and staff have been collecting pop tabs for the past six years to donate to the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) in Milwaukee. This wonderful organization provides a home away from home for families with a child who is staying at Children’s Hospital.

The RMHC offers many wonderful amenities for families, to help them maintain as much normalcy and solace as possible. These include a game room, computer room, study room, Secret Garden, laundry room, fitness center, playground, art and music therapy, church, and free meals.

Pop tab donations are one of RMHC’s funding sources and in May of every year, they hold a special “Pop Tab Day,” when the value of pop tabs is generally tripled! That’s right, rather than earning 33¢ per pound, each pound of pop tabs collected on this day is worth around $1.00!

Historically, we've been able to donate an incredible amount of tabs during this time, but we need everyone's help to do it again this year.

So what can you do?!?!? Simply pop off the tabs from aluminum or tin cans and send them in with your Lincoln Lion at any time. Students can give them to their classroom teacher or drop them off in Mrs. Granrath's office, Room 138.

Lincoln PALS Birthday Basket

Hello Lincoln Families,

This letter is to inform parents (especially parents with new students), staff and students about the unique way that we celebrate birthdays at Lincoln Elementary School. As a staff we have developed some simple choices to offer healthier options for celebrating birthdays.

Here at Lincoln Elementary School, students can choose one of the eleven options listed below to help make their birthday a special day. I want to thank the PALS organization for graciously funding this program by purchasing the playground balls and jump ropes.

Birthday Activity Choices:

1. Outdoor recess

2. Indoor recess

3. Class computer time

4. Dance party

5. Health walk

6. Front of the line all day

7. Help with the morning announcements

8. Choose the warm up game in gym class

9. Bring a Treat

Birthday Prize Choices:

10. Playground ball

11. Jump rope

Thank you,

Greg Anderson

Labeling personal items

Please label personal items, including sweaters, jackets, sweatshirts, lunch boxes, and backpacks. Our lost & found gets very full of unlabeled items. If they're labeled, we return them to students.

Please pack an extra set of clothes in your child’s backpack. When a child spills milk at lunch or finds a puddle at recess, he/she will be able to change into comfortable clothes and comfortably return to class.
