Leadership Messages
Our Superintendent has asked that I make sure you have access to the training we receive in Leadership Meetings. I will make sure those items are in the memos, as well as in our TEAMS folder. in a Training Channel. Please be sure you follow these directives. We are held responsible for them.
Stop, Walk, Talk
If you see a student who is not appropriate in language, dress, or action, please notify an administrator! This is a huge concern for our district. We need to address it here. Start noticing!
Examine with a Cultural Lens
I need to review all of your programs and activities now before you begin working on anything. We have to make sure that things are done with a cultural lens in mind.
What to Examine...
So as we look through this cultural lens, these are the things we need to be considering. Look past the surface culture and examine these areas for your students. Honor the deep cultural traditions and beliefs. Know what they are.
TEAMS is our THING!
Our superintendent has said we are all to be documenting everything on TEAMS. All your team activities should be documented (PLCs, trainings, etc.). It must be available all the time. If you are using paper, take a picture and upload it into TEAMS. It needs to be readily accessible when we need it.
Write it down!
If it isn't written down, it didn't happen. Document student classroom behavior in the intervention section in your grade book. This is important to see whether behaviors are escalating and to show that you are taking care of things. You also need to be sure that you have documented academic interventions you are doing - SPIRE, Tier 2 classroom interventions, etc. You can also document calls home to parents to keep a record of important conversations.
Meditation
Please remember that amid all these demanding "to-do's", you need to take care of your own heart. Finding 5 minutes or less a day to stop what you are doing and have a little meditation could save you a lot more time later. Give yourself and your kids a little break and find yourself inside!
