Note from FPS Nutrition Services
Supply chain issues for food, materials and supplies continues to impact food service providers nationwide, including school nutrition programs. Fargo Public Schools (FPS) has been and continues to be impacted. Currently, there is a nationwide shortage of half pint milk and juice cartons that we serve in our schools. The supply of milk itself is not of concern; however, there are only a few carton producers in the country who provide the cartons for school milk. Our milk vendor has informed us that while they are trying to secure the needed cartons, they may not be able to consistently supply us with our beverages in the half pint cartons.
FPS has plans in place to continue milk offerings at meals if carton packaging is no longer available. In the absence of individual cartons, students will have options for milk using jugs and disposable cups. This will require some modifications to existing meal service systems.
At elementary schools, FPS will be making changes to milk break options due to packaging shortages. Options offered for milk break will be limited to 1% white milk for second semester, which starts January 18. Students who signed up to receive juice or chocolate milk for second semester may ask for a refund or change their preference to 1% white milk.
FPS students will continue to see fluctuating availability of some of their favorite options, including juice boxes and chocolate milk. However, FPS does not foresee the need to omit any food groups from meals offered.
It is our hope that supply chain issues are rectified as soon as possible, however there is no current estimated timeframe for resolutions. The Nutrition Services Department will continue to look into any solution possible to shortage issues.
Thank you for your understanding on this issue.

COVID Q&A
Question: If I test positive what should I do?
Answer: All individuals who test positive must isolate for 5 days.
1) Asymptomatic (no symptoms), or if symptoms are improving and the individual has been fever-free, without medication, for 24 hours by day 5, then the person is released from isolation after day 5.
2) It is recommended that you wear a well-fitting mask while around others until day ten after positive test results.
Question: I have been identified as a close (household) contact. What should I do now?
Answer: VACCINATED
Students or staff members who are identified as a household close contact may continue to be in school. Students who are fully vaccinated can upload their vaccine cards into PowerSchool.
Vaccinated individuals who are eligible but have yet to receive a booster are encouraged to wear a well-fitting mask while around others for 10 days and to receive their booster. The CDC, Fargo Cass Public Health and the ND Department of Health consider individuals up to date with their vaccination immediately after receiving their booster.
UNVACCINATED
Un-vaccinated household close contacts are strongly recommended to quarantine from school for ten days from the onset of their positive household member’s symptoms or from the day their asymptomatic household member tested positive. After those ten days, it is recommended the unvaccinated household contact participate in an-every other day testing program. If they chose not to participate in the testing program, they are strongly recommended to remain home for an additional five days.
Question: Will I still be able to be tested (or is it still available) at a Fargo Public Schools site?
Answer: Yes, testing is still available for FPS staff and students at North and South High. As of January 17th, 2022, testing is no longer required by FPS staff or students to be at school. Please review guidance on the FPS website for when it is recommended.
Question: If a student or staff member is showing symptoms at school, can the school require they get tested for COVID?
Answer: No, if the person is ill, they need to go home and return when symptoms are improving and the individual has been fever-free, without medication, for 24 hours.
If testing at Fargo Cass Public Health or at a Fargo Public Schools testing site, please register ahead of time at https://testreg.nd.gov/. If you are not registered, you will be asked to leave the testing site until you have registered. If you are positive on a home test, you do not need to seek out additional testing. Please do not risk infecting others at testing sites, clinics, or our dedicated testing staff. Testing sites for FPS staff and students will test individuals every other day that wish to be tested as the guidance has changed from testing daily.
Question: What are the testing site hours?
Answer: TESTING SITE HOURS
MWF: 8-2pm
T/Th: 8-430
FPS COVID-19 Testing
