Evans PTA Color Run

Reminder about Sporting Events

We welcome spectators at all of the EMS games, but please remember that all students MUST be accompanied by an adult the entire game in order to watch sporting events.

EAGLECHESS News from the Field of 64:

Well, the calendar has rolled over (again), and it is indeed TOURNAMENT TIME, yo.
Texas Tech Chess is putting on THREE events this semester, all open to K-12 players. Here's the payment link for the first one, slated to go off FEBRUARY 10 (SATURDAY), at the TTU Museum. Beautiful venue in which the games actually occur in the middle of a sculpture gallery...come on out! All levels are encouraged to attend. Read the link for more info

All Chess enthusiasts, please be aware:

You do not have to attend tournaments to be a part of EagleChess; we exist in many forms around the Nest. We're simply excited for the Chess energy around campus, and are thrilled to have so many involved as we learn to "win with grace; lose with dignity (GM Susan Polgar)". Jump in to LunchChess (8th gr., Wed-Fri Lunch) or AfterSchoolChess (normal Mondays, 4-5pm, no permission slips needed)

Final note:

Let's get our stuff together this month so we can DEFEND our current CITY CHAMPIONSHIP as the CIS Tournament approaches (probably in April). Last year we outlasted 16 other middle schools at Atkins (after a nasty blitz playoff), and they will be coming for us this Spring.

We'll have an in-house tournament to determine the TOP THREE in each grade level, then the TEAM will elect a tenth player. Look for brackets and updates from Sr. Parks.

CTAH - these four letters will win you games: Check, Threat, Aggressive, Housekeeping.
