Whats happening this week in 3rd grade
Week of October 8-12, 2018
Monday, October 8, is Fall Picture Day! Please have your child(ren) wear our school uniform.
We will be learning:
Reading
*Ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text. (RL.3.1, RI.3.1)
*Determine main ideas and supporting details in informational texts and central messages in literary texts. (Rl.3.2, RI.32)
Math
*Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step "how many more" and "how many less" problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets. (MD.3.3)
*Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction. (NBT.3.2)
Social Studies
*Understand how citizens participate in their communities. Exemplify how citizens contribute politically, socially, and economically to their community. (3.C&G.2.1)

Parents, My name is Frankie Colvin, I’m the Professional School Counselor at SWPES. I’m so very excited to be able to communicate with you through the newsletter. School Counselors are in every school in Cumberland County. We help all students in the areas of academic achievement, career and social/emotional development. Our goal is to help students become productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow. I’m here at the school every day from 0715-1500.
