Week at a Glance
Marian Central Catholic High School Faculty Newsletter
March 16, 2019
This week was the beginning of the end of the 2018-19 school year! Can you believe that we just completed the first week of the fourth quarter? It's going to be a whirlwind... but we will get through together!
Thanks to Miss Gallagher, last Monday's Tech Inservice was quite helpful! After each department considered characteristics we wanted our students to leave Marian having acquired, we began understanding more deeply what the SAMR model is and how it can be applied in our classrooms. Sometimes analyzing real life examples help us better understand and apply concepts within the classroom!
Last week was Foreign Language Week and our students and other presenters did an amazing job sharing about the various countries. Speakers shared about the culture, language, and personal experiences. Those attending the presentations got a unique opportunity to ask questions and engage with individuals who lived and/or have family members in these countries. Over all, it was a great learning experience for all! The week also included the induction of our new Spanish Honor Society members! Congratulations!
Grading portals opened this past Friday at 7:00 am which means that they are now locked to teachers. Please remember that any grade changes and exam make-ups must now be submitted to Ms. Novy by providing all grade change details on the Grade Change Form.
Looking ahead...
One week until Spring Break!
So what's on tap for this week? Well, let's start with the Friends of Rachel Club heading up Kindness Week! The week rounds out with "Coffee & Donuts" on Friday in the Cafeteria (donations encouraged to help Turning Point!) Please refer to the calendar below for daily events!
Tuesday is a special Extended Homeroom. We heard the presentation from students AJ & Josh at last Monday's inservice as they explained the RSVP program. Please remember to support the facilitators that will be in your homerooms as they solicite student input for what works and what can be improved at our beloved Marian Central. We are all looking forward to possible positive outcomes from this endeavor!
This coming Wednesday is the last day that students can change their course selections for the 2019-20 school year without any charge. Once this date has passed, Mrs. Hilton and Ms. Novy will be beginning the scheduling process in Rediker. This is a long, complicated, and tedious process... but it's also like a fun puzzle!
What this also means is that once we get back from Spring Break, Ms. Novy will be arranging meetings with each faculty member about staffing considerations for the 2019-20 school year. Please know that the paid enrollment numbers are what dictate our staffing needs and we will do everything we can to ensure that we balance being fiscally responsible with ensuring that our students have what they need for a wonderfully successful high school experience.
Please also welcome our new science teacher, Miss Megan Graf as she joins are faculty this Monday!
Have a wonderful week...
