Sept 30 - From the Superintendent
September 30, 2022
September 30, 2022
Hello, USD 231 Patrons and Employees.
I know I've only been here for a few months, but I love our community. Even though it may not be the most glamorous picture from this past weekend's homecoming festivities, the picture on the right says so much about our students. The individuals pictured are high school students who, of their own accord, hung around to help pick up trash. I am so proud of these students and their willingness to help others, namely our custodians that night. Note - I have included some more glamorous pictures of homecoming below.
Speaking of students - I hope you know that I think of our community’s kids as my kids. I don't take lightly the fact that parents bring their children to our schools every day filled with their own hopes and expectations - and trust. Parents trust teachers to meet students where they are, academically and emotionally. They trust that their children’s friends display kindness and acceptance. They trust their child(ren) to make good decisions and arrive home knowing more than when they left. And, our parents trust themselves to have adequately prepared and loved their kids, so they are ready to be successful in our world.
As educators, our highest calling and greatest joy is to pick up where parents let go so that every student feels good, supported, and ready to learn.
Thank you again for the opportunity to work with your children.
Sincerely,
Brian
