April's Friday 15!!!
Friday 5! x 3 this week! Check it out!
Why 15??
I know some of you have lost sleep over missing not 1 but 2 Friday 5!s, so to make up for it, you get 3 this Friday! And lucky for you, I attended GA ETC this week, so I have plenty of amazing things to share!!
Number one comes in the form of how you are receiving Friday 5! this week. Check out a site called Smore. You can create fun and innovative newsletters that can be shared digitally. I went from never having heard of it to creating one in a very short few minutes. You could share one each week with parents, or even have the students create a newsletter each week sharing what they learned for the week.
Smore
Create flyers or newsletters.

Sway
Sway is a digital storytelling app for work, school and home that makes it quick and easy to create and share interactive reports, presentations, personal stories, and more. It's a part of the Office 365 suite!
Today's Meet
Have your students join the conversation and ask questions.
Sock Puppets
Check out this video on how to use an app called Sock Puppets. It's a way to create lip-synced videos and share them. Who doesn't love sock puppets?!?
More Amazing Ideas
We know these, or do we??
Some of these you have heard of, but do you know the extent to which you could you use them in the classroom?
- You Tube: Instead of You Tube being a consumption tool, how about using it as a creating tool. Have students build playlists in You Tube that showcase a particular standard or topic. Even with only one device in the room, students can rotate adding to the playlist, while writing down the videos on index cards and making a bulletin board or word wall of sorts. Students must share why they felt the video was important enough to add to the playlist.
- Mystery Skype: Imagine having your students skype with another class somewhere in the world and they play 20 questions to figure out where the other class is located? One teacher used this to show students in Chicago that water boils at a different rate at higher elevations with a class in Denver by conducting an experiment at the same time.
- Twitter Tuesday: Have a twitter handle for your classes that you control. On Tuesdays, instead of maybe journal writing, have students respond to a prompt or question and let them tweet what they are learning.
