We need you!

As the school year continues and everything is certainly in full swing at the library, we are looking for your help. Every week we have at least 1000 books moving off our shelves and into the hands of our children, and then they all need re-shelving too once they are returned. It's quite a task to make sure that everyone can locate their specific book on our shelves. If you have an hour or two to spare in the week we are looking for your help to make sure everything is where it should be.

We also plan to have our 'working parties' where the music is playing and there is food and drink, but mainly there is a lot of fun as we tackle huge piles of books that need covering, or books that need re-shelving or whatever other large task that is made easier by many hands.

We really need volunteers to help with our Mother Tongue collection. If you are fluent in a language other than english are are able to help us develop our book collection in that language, we really need your valuable input!

If you think you can help regularly or as a one off please come and meet us at our coffee morning on Wednesday 25th September 2019 from 8.30am to 9.00am. We'll have coffee ready for after the school run. There is a link below to the sign up sheet for the coffee morning please add your . name if you can make it.

Special collections

There are two particular collections on the library that have been really quite inaccessible, and in our drive to make all our resources available and easy to find we have mixed things up and moved things around! The collections are they Year 6 books and the Oversized books.

The Oversized books are just on the inside of the Library ILE and are mainly front facing now. The Year 6 books are now in the fiction area rather than hidden behind our desk. By changing their location, their cataloguing and their labelling we are hoping that the students of Peak School are better able to find them and borrow them.

Do not fear that the Year 6 books are easier to spot we have been quite rigorous in our efforts to keep them from other students, they are on a high shelf with bright labels and even have warning messages on the computers if attempted to borrow by any non- year 6 students. We've thought this one through...

New books

We are adding new titles to our shelves at a daily rate at the moment and they are not staying there for long. The children at Peak School love to read and its a joy to see their excitement when they discover the next in a series or a new book they didn't know about before. We invite all our school community to discover the delights in our library, there are so many great books to choose from!
