Wednesday, June 1 and Thursday, June 2
Time
- Wednesday, June 1 -- 9:00 am to 3:00 pm (lunch hour as needed)
- Thursday, June 2 -- 9:00 am to 3:00 pm (lunch hour as needed)
- You will be asked to sign in each day.
- The overall goals of the workshop are:
- You leave feeling comfortable with Canvas and how you want to integrate it into your classroom.
- You have a great jump on course creation.
Wednesday Morning
Throughout the day on Wednesday, direct instruction will take place, as we want all teachers to understand Canvas and all of its capabilities. By the end of the morning you will:
-Log In
-Navigate through dashboard
-Navigate through courses and edit courses
-Add syllabus
-Add announcements
-Create modules
-Create and edit assignments
-Edit calendars
-Search Canvas guides for help
Wednesday Afternoon
There will be two opportunities for personalized learning during Wednesday afternoon -- (1) assessment in Canvas OR (2) using Canvas as a "Window Into Your Classroom". A variety of different tools will be shared with during each session, but we want to give you the opportunity to choose what you want to learn!
During the Assessment Session:
- Gain knowledge on creating quizzes and how to set up quizzes
- Create quizzes with various question types
- Understand question banks
- Create discussion boards
- Review external tools
- Transfer from Angel to Canvas
- Import from Exam View
During the "Canvas as A Window Into Your Classroom" Session:
- Create classroom home page
- Discussion boards
- Record Voice
- Discussion on keeping navigation simple (using icons and buttons to navigate)
Thursday All Day
Bring all the "stuff" you want to incorporate in your Canvas course. Today is a workday for you to dive into your Canvas course. Small snippets of directed instruction will be shared throughout the day. Please know you will be given ample time to work on your course!
