Winter Park High School Band Notes

February 3, 2019

Congratulations on a successful Doo-2-Door fundraiser this past Saturday! Just from donations collected on Saturday, we successfully raised just shy of $23,000.00 for the Band program. Thank you to all of our students and parent chaperones who participated!

A huge thank you to Heather Ribaric, Sharon Flood, Candace Griffin, Mary Beth Johnson and Lee McBurney! Without your tireless organization and help with Door-2-Door the event would barely get off the ground. Also a special thank you to James Johnson and alumni parent Nancy Stephens for stepping in to help out in the counting room!

Parents of students in our three jazz ensembles, I encourage you to come watch our performances at Jazz MPA this Thursday and Friday at University HS. At times, MPA performances can unfortunately happen to a relatively empty auditorium since many happen during normal school/work hours. If you are able to make it over to University to watch a performance, know that it will be greatly appreciated!

With Solo & Ensemble this week, if you're looking for some last-minute assistance with preparing your solo and/or ensemble please plan some time after school or during your lunch period. Also, if you are planning to use an original copy of your music that is owned by the school, please pick it up from the Band library either Wednesday or Thursday after school. Instructions for returning originals will be discussed in class this week.

Looking forward to outstanding performances both at Jazz MPA and at Solo & Ensemble!

FROM SHARON FLOOD

Hello Band Parents,

We made it through another Door-2-Door fundraiser!! I would personally like to thank our wonderful Fundraising Chair Heather Ribaric and her awesome "wingman", Volunteer Coordinator, Candice Griffin for all your efforts today. For whatever reason, it was a bit rough and chaotic to say the least this morning, but the two of you handled each situation beautifully. Next, I would like to thank all the volunteers in the counting room, especially James Johnston for setting up the counting room and Nancy Stephens for stepping in and keeping us all on track---you two are lifesavers!! Also, thank you Lee McBurney for the breakfast setup for the kids in the morning and for lunch in the cafeteria. Thank you to those volunteers who helped serve pizza at lunch time---your help was gratefully appreciated!

Lastly, I would like to thank the parent drivers for volunteering on this beautiful day of fundraising. We seriously couldn't have done this without you! Thank you for your patience as we sorted through the morning chaos, thank you to those who gave up the morning, afternoon or both schedules to accommodate student vacancies or having extra drivers. Thank you for those who came back to take an afternoon schedule and to those couple of drivers who stayed to be our "runners" during the day. Each and everyone of you contributed, in whatever way, to making this year's Door-2-Door a success! So from me personally,... Thank you so very much!
