A MESSAGE FROM DR. WAGGONER
When parents are actively involved in the education of their children, research shows children do better in school and student achievement increases. Parent/teacher conferences are coming soon, and this is a great way to partner in your child’s education.
This year, conferences for children in grades K-5 will be held from 4:30-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, and 11 a.m.-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 9. Preschool will have conferences from 8 a.m.-8:30 p.m. on February 8 and 11 a.m.-8 p.m. on February 9. We will utilize this time to discuss your child’s progress in school and possibly set some goals for the remainder of the school year.
During parent/teacher conferences, parents will be asked to update the enrollment information that may have changed since the beginning of the school year. If you know that you may move before the next school year begins, we would appreciate it if you would indicate this.
Preparations for Kansas Assessments in Reading and Math have begun for students in grades 3, 4, and 5 which will occur in March and April. Some of the intensive instruction and review takes place during Husky Time which occurs between 8:20-9:00 a.m., therefore it is imperative students be on time to school. Please continue to support our academic efforts with your children by ensuring they arrive to school on time.
February is a busy month, with a lot of learning going on here at Heatherstone. We look forward to seeing you at conferences and sharing what’s happening here at school.
Please help us reach our goal to have 100% participation.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ruth Waggoner, Principal
