It is a quick and more regular form of transport because it helps in the transportation of goods with speed and certainty


The railroad cost of construction, maintenance are very expensive compared to other transportation

How did it impact North Dakota

Railroads in North Dakota were very important. Transportation was at the heart of almost every community, bring people, supplies and life to the fledgling state.

Importance to settling the west

They transformed the West into a permanent extension of the modern world, bringing thousands of immigrants and changing the structure of human population

Roads of rails called Wagonways were being used in Germany as early as 1550. These primitive railed roads consisted of wooden rails over which horse-drawn wagons or carts moved with greater ease than over dirt roads. Wagonways were the beginnings of modern railroads.
