Principal's Post
Friday, March 3, 2023
Dear Angell Community,
This Monday is an exciting time for our 5th graders as they will leave for 5th Grade Camp at YMCA Storer Camp. For well over thirty years the Berkley School District has been able to send 5th graders from across the district for an outdoor educational experience. We are fortunate to have this long standing relationship with Storer Camps.
Our 5th grade staff, Nurse Rose and myself will join the staff and students from Burton, Norup International, Rogers and Pattengill for a three day/two night event. This bonding experience helps begin the process as our students prepare for the middle school transition.
We are fortunate to have three administrators from across the district that will support Angell while I am at camp. If you need any assistance please feel free to reach out to the main office and they will happily connect you to the administrator in charge for the day.
- Monday, March 6th: Mrs. Julius, BHS Administrative Intern
- Tuesday, March 7th: Mrs. Angel, Teaching and Learning Team Administrator
- Wednesday, March 8th: Mrs. Halliday, Shared Time Supervisor
A huge thank you to our wonderful PTA for sponsoring our annual Skate Night at Skateworld of Troy on Wednesday, March 1st. We had over 400 participants and raised $530.44 through donations to purchase more books for our Media Center for all students to enjoy. A special thank you to Mrs. Hoerner and Mrs. McKeeman for organizing the evening. A great time was had by all. Please enjoy pictures from the evening that are posted throughout the Principal's Post.
Please take note of the conference links that are listed below. Please signup for a virtual conference slot on Thursday, March 16th. There is a conference signup for all staff members.
If you enjoy adding color to your yard as spring approaches please consider buying your supplies from the annual Flower Sale that raises money for the BHS Senior All Night Party. The information and link to shop is posted below.

How has the BEF impacted Angell?
Enrichment Courses: The BEF has supported Angell students who have enrolled in 12 free enrichment courses since 2018, including: Pitch Perfect, Coding, STEAM, Cubing, Entrepreneurs and Fueling up our Futures.
Teacher Innovation-Grants: The BEF has funded 58 Angell teacher innovation-grants since 2017, including: STEM stations, a chick incubator, broadcast tools, LEGO animation, trip to DNR Detroit, classroom tree house, executive functioning strategies, Mystery Science program, fine motor development for Kindergarten, OSMO explorer kit, keyboarding with pop-its, steel drums, math toolkits, two iPads and social emotional learning tools.
