This week, October 28 - November 1 that honor goes to BRANDON JUBY. While Brandon often goes above and beyond for our students, this past week he stepped up even more than usual. While Randy and Ana were out at TCIS, and Rachel was out at a conference, Brandon was the Robin to Dr. O'Grady's Batman. He sensitively supported several students, was the right-hand-man in the cafeteria and went the extra mile to help other staff members help our students. Thank you Mr. Juby for all you do for our staff and students!

Multi-cultural Night November 4
- We would like you to volunteer that evening!
- We would like to know if you have any connections to outside cultural groups that may want to perform/demonstrate that evening (dance/music/capoeira/etc.) that shows an aspect of a specific culture
- We would like to display any student work that reflects multi-cultural diversity
- We would like you to promote it to your students!
If you would like to sign up to volunteer for this event, do so by clicking here.
Thank you in advance for your participation and assistance!

MORNING ARRIVAL CHANGES
Starting tomorrow we will begin new morning arrival procedures. This week we will invite certain groups to have morning recess outside from 8:00 - 8:20 (weather permitting). We begin Monday with grade 5 students being invited outside for recess -- there will be a sign posted on the bulletin board across from the main office so students know who is invited for outdoor recess, and what other options may be available for students. Beginning sometime soon -- perhaps as early as later this week -- we will have other options for students as well. We hope this will help students start the day off on a better note without requiring all students to be confined only to the cafeteria or the gym. With morning activity options, students will be broken up into smaller groups, and on recess days, students may have a chance to exert excess energy before starting their day so they can focus better in class. Stay tuned for more information and for instructions for students.
PBIS Corner: REMINDERS!
UPDATED HAWKS POINTS ON EXCEL: I have shared with everyone the HAWKS Points datasheet as of last week. There is a tab on the bottom that also reflects the rewards for each point increment. Thank you to the teachers that hand in their points consistently! I emailed several teachers that have earned their first reward for reaching 500 points. Keep it up! :)

BEHAVIOR/DISCIPLINE TASK FORCE MEETING rescheduled again
Are you interested in lending your voice to the conversations around behavior and discipline in our school? Are you interested in exploring what other schools are doing, and some of the latest research around behavior and discipline in schools? In addition to joining our volunteer PBIS Committee, consider joining our Behavior/Discipline Task Force. We will meet at least once a month, and we will share relevant articles and engage in a book study as we form a common understanding of best practices to support our students. If you are interested, please sign up on this Google Doc.
Reminder: LIGHTHOUSE VISITS
Along with the required visits of new teachers to Lighthouse Classrooms, we want to encourage others to visit their colleagues to share best practices. Request a Lighthouse Classroom visit by signing up using this form.

ICYMI: MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS
We are exploring some new ways to submit your announcements for the morning announcements. For the time-being, if you have something you would like to add to the morning announcements, click on this calendar doc and add it to the morning you would like it announced. Be careful not to type over someone else’s announcement. I know some people had difficulty accessing the document, but I have changed the settings to make sure everyone can edit the file.
