MES Communication

Hello Moncure Community!
Inside this communication, you will find several important topics. Some of the topics include information about our upcoming Fall / Winter Clothing Sale, our Book Fair, a free dental opportunity, and a couple of behaviors we are focusing on at school. They say it takes a village to raise a child. I hope you find our support helpful, as we strive to help our Bears be the best they can be. Thanks for your partnership.

Moncure’s Clothing Sale – October 28th-29th
Are you looking for gently used Fall/Winter clothing for your growing children or adults? Perhaps you have gently used Fall/Winter clothing, baby items, bikes, toys, or electronics at your house that you are looking to sell. Good news! Moncure’s PTO Clothing (Consignment) Sale is back! If you are looking to sell and volunteer, you can earn up to 75% of your sales. Likewise, all shoppers will be able to find nice clothes for bargain prices. Mark your calendars for October 28th and 29th to shop and/or sell. After a few years away from this Stafford County tradition, Moncure’s community is excited for its return. For more information, please refer to the flier link. Clothing Sale Flier Link
Bedford Falls Book Fair
The Bedford Falls Book Fair will be visiting Moncure between October 27th and November 3rd! Students will visit the book fair during their Library special and have the option to purchase books. A Book Fair is a great event for our community and a way to encourage our children to read! Profits from the Book Fair are used to purchase new materials for our school Library.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Library.
Are you interested in being a Substitute Teacher?
Have you ever considered being a substitute teacher. Stafford County Public Schools is always looking for substitutes to support our schools. To learn about the application and hiring process, access the link below. We are always looking for energetic and positive substitutes to support our school. SCPS Substitute Hiring Information
Inappropriate Behaviors
I am sad to share that we are seeing an increase in students using inappropriate language on the bus and at school and we are seeing an uptick in students refusing to do work and deliberately not follow directions. Each of these actions are against our county’s Code of Student Conduct, they are disruptive, and they take away from student learning. As we address these behaviors from school, we ask families to remind students to use appropriate language, complete assigned work, and always put forth their best effort. Students who continue to use inappropriate language, refuse to do assigned work, or disrupt learning will be given referrals and assigned consequences that may result in bus suspensions and/or time away from classrooms and peers. Your reminders and support are a critical to creating a solution. We cannot stop these behaviors without your reminders and reinforcement from home. We appreciate your help!

A Note to School - Communication
Plans change and communication makes everything easier. Should you need to report an absence or adjust your BEAR’S dismissal plan, please contact our school. One way to communicate is by completing our “A Note to School” form and sending it through email to our office and your student’s teacher or by simply sending the form or a note to school. To access digital forms of this note, you can go to the parent portion of our webpage or simply use the link below. Thanks for keeping us informed. The earlier the better.
How to communicate with Moncure:
mefrontoffice@staffordschools.net -or- "A Note To School"
Please include in all emails:
Student's Name, Teacher's Name, and your name
Office Dismissal Hours (“No Student Office Dismissals” after 2:30PM)
It is not uncommon for our office and elementary schools across our county to receive multiple emails each day with dismissal changes from parents. The notifications require our office to contact teachers to prevent students from being dismissed incorrectly. Student office dismissals after 2:30PM only add to this confusion. Please understand that our “No Student Office Dismissal” restriction after 2:30PM is based on student safety. Thanks for your understanding!
“Pawsitive” and “Caught Ya” Citations
“Pawsitive” and “Caught Ya” Citations are great ways to recognize students and staff for being awesome! Staff members are responsible for submitting “Pawsitive” Citations for students and students and parents are welcome to submit “Caught Ya” Citations for staff. Check your email for these citations! They are a highlight of our day to send and often a highlight for students and families to receive. They also provide students with an opportunity to earn House points. Everyone wants to be a member of the “House of the Year!” If you would like to recognize one or more of our staff members, simply use this link. “Caught Ya”–Staff Citation Link Thank you so much!
