Here's the Scoop
Miss Derban's 2nd Grade Class
September 19, 2014
In the classroom this week the boys and girls were introduced or revisited First In Math. This is a math website where the boys and girls can practice math facts and play math games that reinforce what they are learning at school. In order to log in please go to www.firstinmath.com, and your child's user name is their first name and their password is their pin number. They have really been enjoying their time on it here at school earning stickers and working hard to become the player of the day. Good luck boys and girls!
What We're Learning...
Reading: This week we read the story Julius. Along with the story we talked about realism and fantasy both in the story and in real life.
Math: This week the boys and girls had their first pocket day, and they loved it! As a cllas we graphed the Pocket Day results on a line plot and a bar graph. They also had an opportunity to explore with the pattern blocks.
Writing: This week the boys and girls continued working on their personal narratives about their summer.
Science/ Social Studies: In social studies this week the boys and girls began talking about rules in the classroom, school, and community. In science they are learning about air.
