October Kindness Winners
For October, our monthly theme was KINDNESS. Students and staff were asked to
nominate individuals who exhibit compassion, awareness and care of others.
They look for ways to serve others without anything in return. Congratulations
to these individuals!

C/O 2024 Upcoming Events
Class of 2024: The Junior year can be exciting, busy, and sometimes stressful, as students start to think about their plans after high school. The WHS Counseling Center is here to help, and we want to let you know about some events and programs coming up in the next few months. More details for each event will be forthcoming, but here are some dates and events that you will want to put on your calendars:
● The Class of 2024 Scheduling Meetings will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022. Students will hear from their counselors about scheduling classes for their senior year, as well as meeting requirements for Graduation Pathways.
● College Planning Night is scheduled for Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 6:30-8:00 PM. We will start the evening with grade-specific presentations, and then have break-out sessions offered on a variety of topics.
● The School Day SAT for all juniors will be administered on Thursday, March 2, 2023. The School Day SAT is a state-mandated exam, and replaces the previous ISTEP+ exams. Students do not need to register for this
exam, as all members of the Class of 2024 will be taking this. Here's a quick video that discusses the SAT as the State of Indiana Assessment.
○ Please note that even students who plan to graduate at the end of their junior year are required to take this exam.
● The School Day ACT will be administered on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. This exam does require students to register, and there is limited space available; look for an email from Mrs. Corya in the near future with more details.
● Should students want to take either an SAT or an ACT outside of the two School Day opportunities listed above, they can do so by registering online at the links below:
○ SAT: collegeboard.org/sat
○ ACT: actstudent.org
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your Counselor! You can find the Counseling Center Staff contact information here.
