What is the Stono Rebellion
The Stono Rebellion was a slave rebellion that began on 9 September 1739, in the colony of South Carolina. It was the largest slave uprising in the British mainland colonies, with 42-47 whites and 44 blacks killed.
The Stono Rebellion
A band of blacks marches down the road that read "Liberty". This group was lead by an Angolan named Jemmy. What triggered the Stono Rebellion was that some of the slaves had escaped from South Carolina to Florida. They were given land and freedom. It was then announced that any black person who escaped to Saint Augustine would get the same treatment.
The Stone Rebllion part two
20 slaves tried to escape South Carolina to get to Florida. They were immediately caught and killed by getting beheaded.
