Hello, everyone! It’s crazy to think how much time has gone by already. September just flew by for us. 3rd grade has been working hard on multiplication and division, getting to know the different facts and ways it can be applied. I spend a good amount of time on their first unit in math with them because having a solid foundation in multiplication and division will make things a little bit easier for them down the road in their education. 2nd grade has moved on to place value, counting by 100s, 10s, and 1s.
Both 2nd and 3rd are working hard to finish up their first reading units and move on to the next! Science has been a blast for them, they love the opportunities they get to have a hands-on learning experience. For example, the kids had to figure out a way to make a toy car move by somehow connecting a balloon to the car! They had to use their GRIT and try many times before they were successful in making their toy car move, but they were having so much fun doing it!
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be here before we know it, and we have been working hard to show you what we’ve been learning! I can’t wait to see you all and meet some new faces. Happy October, everyone!

In science we are learning that scientists gather information by conducting experiments, making models, or doing repeated observations. We talked about that reasons for each and we learned some about Old Faithful! In math 4th grade is working on multi step word problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. 5th grade is learning about exponents, multiplying and dividing by powers of 10, and are beginning adding decimals.
In reading we are learning about The Sun and all the ways we use it. Both 4th and 5th have also been working hard on narrative writing.
