DIGGING INTO DATA
What we liked about our Deep Data Dive Days
- "I liked that it was very goal focused and about how we are going to move forward."
- "I loved having time to analyze and make a plan that is doable. Looking at when and how."
- "I loved how fast paced this was. It felt like we got alot accomplished without wasting time."
- "I liked working working together (as a team) - coming up with strategies."
- "I liked that we were able to see where all of our kids are and address that. We were able to find what we need more practice with and can use a common language to teach it."
- "I appreciate how we were given direct strategies to use in our classrooms to improve student skills."

MTSS/RTI Process Update
I appreciate your patience as we work through the new process with MTSS/RTI. Please be aware of the following:
- If you have a student with Academic Concerns, you would email Julie Bishopp about the child.
- If you have a student with Behavioral Concerns, you would email June Davidhizer about the child.
- Once the child is placed on the agenda for MTSS/RTI, the child will be discussed, along with your concerns and data points with the team. You will then receive an email from Julie or June about next steps and actions that the team will be taking or asking you to take.
- Once enough data points (Progress Monitoring) has occurred, we could move towards testing. You will be notified about this, if this occurs.
I know this process feels a little different this year but we all feel that the process will be a better one for our students. Additionally, if we need the teacher, EL teacher, etc., in the meeting, arrangements will be made for you to attend. Please know that we are trying to be cognizant of your time and don't want you to have another meeting unless needed. We are trying to do "up front" work as much as possible.
Thanks for your patience as we work through this process and please ask if you have any questions.
UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN
Last year, Goshen Community Schools employees came together to make a lasting impact on our community. Together, GCS raised more than $11,000 for our neighbors in need through United Way! Our contributions were invested in a network of vital local programs that:
• Helped people in crisis meet their basic needs
• Prepared more children to succeed in school and in life
• Equipped more hardworking families to become financially secure
• Improved the health of individuals of all ages
GCS is proud to host a United Way employee giving campaign Sept. 25 – Oct. 27 This year, we’ve set a bold goal of $20,000 for GCS!
The pledge forms will be placed in your mailboxes next week. Additionally, I will be scheduling a United Way Representative to come to speak to our staff sometime before Fall Break. If you are planning to give, Please make sure that you fill out your form completely, and that they know that payroll deductions will be based on 10 pays, not weekly/based on 52 weeks. Remember, in order to be entered into the Thanksgiving Raffle, an employee must contribute $182, which is the equivalent of giving $3.50 per week. So, you can either donate $182 all at once, or $18.20 per pay period for the 10 pays.
You will have until Oct. 27th to hand in the United Way forms. Let's set a goal of $1,500.00 for our building this year and show our Waterford Spirit by contributing to the United Way Campaign. If we reach out goal of $1,500.00 by October 27th, the entire staff may wear jeans for the week of October 30th! Let's fuel up our energy bus with "golden gas" in order to help our community through the United Way Campaign. Go Waterford!!
Together, when we LIVE UNITED, we are able to make a more powerful difference than any of us could alone!
PS. Bill Rieth will be here on Monday, September 25th for a few minutes at the end of our staff meeting to talk about the United Way Campaign.
