COMMUNITY MEMBERS SOUGHT FOR MENTOR PROGRAM
The Chamber is currently seeking Chamber and community members to serve as mentors by committing two lunch periods each month November through May. The High School encourages Freshman or Sophomore students to participate and register for the program by October 15th with Principal Kimble, Assistant Principal Specht, or Communities in Schools Coordinator Lewis Dunkeson. Student applications are available in the FSHS office.
The program is designed to match participating students with community mentors to help them explore education and career options, prepare for applying and interviewing and build connections with local employers. The program is also designed to create a workforce funnel for local employers with job opportunities for students who choose stay in Fort Scott after high school or college graduation.
Mentors and students meet once per month as a group for a business tour or guest speaker, organized by the Chamber. Mentor and student pairs have lunch on their own once a month to explore the student’s individual career or college goals. Community members and students interested in participating in the program for the 2021-2022 school year may contact the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce at 620-223-3566 or email information@fortscott.com.

TIGER SOCCER NEWS
Let's Hear It for the Boys!
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2021
FSHS received the following email this morning from one of the officials from last night's Soccer game in Joplin. We would like to congratulate our players and coaches on the job well done! Very proud of them and all our athletes and coaches!
I was an Assistant Referee for tonight’s contest between College Heights and Fort Scott. We do not have a means to send a special report to your state athletic association and after some discussion between the three of us, we felt it necessary to send you an email regarding the Fort Scott players and coaches.
None of us had officiated Fort Scott before and had no idea what to expect. I can tell you that we all walked away feeling blessed with how polite and respectful the players were throughout the entire evening. This was a direct reflection I feel of their coaching because the two coaches were absolute gentlemen as well. In fact, your coaches recognized that we did not get any water brought to us during the game and offered us bottled water to drink.
You should be extremely proud of this team in the way they represented your school and community and we thank you for that. Please extend our appreciation to them so that they know their behavior did not go unnoticed.
