Early years for Mendel
Gregor Medel was born on July 22, 1822 in the Czech Republic. As a child Mendel's family were poor farmers. Mendel was a gifted child and tutored other students to pay for his schooling.
Struggles
As he got older and went to high school, he was unable to find a job.
High School and College
After graduating he attended the University of Olumouc. Going to the university was hard for Mendel was hard though. Because he spoke a different language at home than at school. As a student Mendel exceled in mathematics and science. After he finally completed the program after long hard and agrivating years of work.
Years after College
After graduating the program his father expected him to take over the family farm, but Mendel had other plans. He stated studying to be a monk. He then joined the St. Thomas Monastery. Gregor was in luck he gained access to the expensive experimental facilities and library.
Year of Success
Medel got really tired of his work at the Monastery almost the point where he got ill. He decided to take a break and fill a spot as a teacher in Znaim for a little bit. During this break he did experiments what he is now known for.
Theories and experiments
During his time he did experiments on heredity traits by using pea plants. He picked pea plants to do experiments on because of the variety of them. After analyzing his data he reached two conclusions, the law of segregation and the law of independent assortment. Many scientist could not understand Gregor Mendels theories or experiments until after Mendel died.
