Summer Playing Opportunities for 6-8 Band Members
Private Lessons
For Beginners, private lessons can speed up mastering the basics. A private teacher can provide individual encouragement and guidance that can give young musicians an inside edge so they feel more confident in band. Not to mention, private instruction ensures that the beginning player develops good playing habits from the start.
For 2-3rd year players, private instruction provide motivation to not merely keep up in band, but to excel. One-to-One attention will improve technique and could help students get over any kind of hurdle they have reached. Perhaps more importantly, private lessons put the individual musician's needs in the spotlight. Once a week, your musician becomes the sole focus of the teacher's attention.
The greater Toledo area has several fantastic instructors for every instrument in the band. We are happy to provide you with the names and contact information for local teachers who may fit with your musicians personality and learning style. You can also contact the Toledo Youth Orchestra for their list of approved private instructors. It's completely acceptable to schedule a few trial lessons with a private instructor to see if they are a good fit for your musician.
Finally, keep in mind that while private lessons should be an enjoyable, positive experience for your musician, they are not supposed to be all fun and games. In order for your financial investment in private lessons to pay off, your musicians has to invest something too--namely time and effort.
