St. Jude School

A Note from the Principal
Several of our students attended the Special Olympics at the Elyria High School Stadium. We had a clap out for these students to wish them well in their competitions: Evin, Johnny, Avery, Taylor, Molly, Makayla, EJ, and Crolie-John. Thank you to the teachers, aides, and staff members who went above and beyond in preparing and coaching our team. Corporate sponsors include Mercy Heath, Stonington Lodge #503 in Amherst, high-tech pools, Avon Import Auto Clinic, and St. Jude School families. We hope all those that had a chance to attend had a fun and memorable day.
Faithfully,
Mrs. Hibler

The 3-5 grade general music concert will be Tuesday, May 17th at 6:00 pm. Students will need to arrive no later than 5:50 pm, to be ready to start by 6:00 pm. The place is to be determined. The 3rd grade will perform first, then the 4th grade, and 5th grade will end the concert. The concert will be live-streamed, and details will be emailed as the date draws near. For now, please mark this date on your calendar, as we look forward to seeing you there!
Spelling Bee
The fifth and sixth grade Spelling Bee contest was held with several students from St Jude! Participants were: Noah Mai, Duncan McDowell, James Drumm, and Adam Ornella. All performed well, and Adam Ornella came in second place after a long-fought battle for first place!
Upcoming Band Concert Information
The Band Spring Concert is Tuesday, May 24 at 6:00 pm in the pavilion. Bring your favorite lawn chair, relax, and listen to Beginning and Concert Bands perform. We will celebrate the graduating 8th-grade students with their favorite songs through their time here at St. Jude.
If the weather does not cooperate, we will hold the concert in the gym. Bring on the sunshine and nice weather!
CYO NEWS
2022 Julie Krous Memorial Scholarship
St. Jude CYO will once again be giving out two $500 scholarships to one 8th grade boy and one 8th grade girl attending a catholic high school in the Fall of 2022. These scholarships are awarded in memory of a former St. Jude teacher and coach - Mrs. Julie Krous. Julie and her family had a tremendous influence on St. Jude's CYO program over the years, and we are once again proud to honor her memory with these scholarships.
The application and scholarship guide are attached to this message. All necessary materials should be filled out and sent to cyo@stjudejaguars.org by May 15, 2022.
Thanks, and GO JAGS!!!
Save the Date-CYO Par 3 Outing!
A few items to note about the event:
- Given the shortness of the course and the potential shortage of carts for the event, we ask people to walk or use pull carts. We were able to accommodate everyone in a cart last year but wanted you to be aware that carts might be an issue.
- The format will be a team scramble: all players tee off, then all hit/putt according to the best shot.
- Prize money will be paid for team-low scores, skins, and closest-to-the-pins.
- We will have an individual hole-in-one 50/50 pot for anyone interested in participating at $10 per person.
- Drink tickets will be given and some other prize like a sleeve of golf balls.
- Registration should be paid at the course on the day of the event. Rainchecks will be issued if the weather calls for it.
St. Jude Summer Golf League!
The St. Jude adult golf league at Valley of the Eagles will take place on Wednesday evenings starting on May 18th, through September. Please let us know if you are interested in joining by filling out the Google Form at the bottom of this email. The league begins at 4:30pm every Wednesday night.
We are still fine-tuning some of the details, but it will most likely involve a competitive flight and a non-competitive flight. The cost will be $25.00 per week. We ask that everyone pay a month in advance, as is the policy of the course management. Should you miss a week that you already paid for, it will carry over to the next month’s fees. We will likely only do skins this year and not pin shots.
If you have friends or family that would like to play, please invite them!
Please fill out one form per participant.
If you have any further questions, please reach out to

Saint Ignatius runs a youth camp for rising 8th-grade boys called the Summer Enrichment Program (SEP). We have about 25 spots remaining for this summer's edition of SEP. We've been hosting SEP for over 50 years now, and each summer, 400 boys choose to spend part of their summer with us. The camp features academics, athletics, breakfast and lunch, guest speakers, and the occasional field trip. The cost is $375 per camper (the price includes all meals).
