Big picture

A Note From Mr. Christ

Dear Paddock Families,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and was able to get some extra rest and relaxation. I am very thankful for all of the hard work and dedication to student learning the Paddock staff has shown. Their efforts to help students grow academically and socially during this difficult year continues to impress. The staff are the backbone of Paddock and I cannot thank them enough for everything they do.

Jason Christ

PTA Membership Drive

This November, to promote PTA membership and all the good that the PTA does, we've been having a class contest where the two classes with the highest percentage of PTA members will win the choice of extra recess, PJ day, game day, or whatever the class agrees to. So far, Mrs. Kretzinger's and Mrs. Rosenbarger's first grade classes are in the lead, but there are several others not too far behind! Help your student win the "choice day" contest by signing up for the PTA before December 1.

Spelling Bee

Students in grades 4-6 will participate in classroom spelling bees and then winners from each class will participate in the school spelling bee. The winner of the school spelling bee will move on to compete in the District bee.

Classroom spelling bees - completed before December 10th

School spelling bee - December 15th

District spelling bee - February 1st

Contact your child's classroom teacher or Ms. Walsh with any questions.

Toys For Tots

The Palatine Police and Fire Benevolent Association is proud to bring back their annual Toys For Tots holiday toy drive. Collection boxes will be located in the main vestibule at Paddock School starting November 8th.

Winter Wishes

Winter Wishes is a program that, in the past, has shown the unbelievable generosity from our community to make sure all our Paddock students have clothing, books, toys and winter outwear. Given these uncertain times, this program is as important as it has ever been.

This year, we are asking for hats, gloves, shorts, leggings, masks, snacks and gift cards (NO ELECTRONIC CARDS) to Walmart, Jewel and Target. For gift cards, any amount is welcome but denominations of $25 and under are most helpful. Gift cards can be brought to or mailed to the main office or turned into your student's teacher. Items will also be collected at Paddock School. There is a labeled bin in the vestibule at the main door. Collection begins during Parent-Teacher Conferences and will end December 8th.

Thank you for your support. If you have any questions, please contact Jessica Worst

Health Office

As a reminder, if you student is showing any signs of COVID-19, please keep them home from school. Additionally, if they awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test, we encourage you to have them stay home until those results come in. Being able to certify that your student is healthy and able to come to school will be extremely beneficial as we move into the colder months of the year.

If your child has a Health Care plan for asthma or an allergy OR has medication they need to take at school, please make sure you read the linked documents and get in contact with Mrs. Pool, our Paddock nurse. You can reach her at 847-963-5802 or

Please make sure you are sending at least 1-2 additional clean masks with your child each day. These masks should be well fitting and cover both the student's nose and mouth without the student needing to continually pull the mask up. Having a well fitting mask is imperative to keeping our students safe and limiting close contacts, should a positive case arise. Thank you for your help in this.
