LES - OCTOBER COMPASSION PROJECT
Loveland Elementary has a Kindness Council, made up of students throughout the school. The goal of the council is to create an environment that fosters kindness and compassion within our school and our classrooms; as well as in the local and global community. In addition, they will be leading a school-wide monthly compassion project. The Compassion Projects tie in with the district-wide initiative of the Seven habits of a Healthy child. In September, we talked about being proactive as we build our classroom communities, and collected for the Hurricane Dorian victims and shoes for WaterStep. October's focus is "Begin with the end in mind...have a plan and make a change!"
The October will be Socktober! Did you know that there are 600,000 people living on the streets of the US? Did you know that socks are the number 1 requested item for Homeless Shelters? As a school, we would like to set a goal of collecting 6,000 pairs of NEW socks to donate to local homeless shelters. The sock drive will run from October 1- October 31, and any socks donated can be given to your child's teacher or put in the red bin in the front office. Such a small act of kindness can really make a BIG difference!!
BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION!
ATTENTION NEW BOX TOPS APP USERS!!! The app is allowing NEW users a one time scan of old receipts outside the 14 day window! Receipts up to 5 months old will be counted on your first app submission. So scan those old (and new!) receipts if you’ve not used the app yet!
