Marie Murphy Principal Message
August 24, 2021
It is hard to believe that we are already here. Tomorrow is the big day and Marie Murphy is ready and waiting for your wonderful children to arrive. This week I have taken pause to reflect on where we were a year ago at this time. My how far we have come and it is exciting! With that said, I do have to keep myself anchored and mindful of where we are with local metrics and the pandemic. This next step to open school fully to kids can only be successful with a true partnership between home and school. We have our protocols in place, PPE is ready, and the teachers are eager to bring children into a happy and safe learning environment. If your child is showing signs of illness we need them to stay home while you explore if it is a cold, allergies, or possibly covid. If you have questions at anytime please reach out to me and we will work through this together.
As a new member of the Marie Murphy team I am amazed at what this school has to offer your children. This team is working so hard to ensure that we are ready for a year that focuses on building a strong foundation of learning to support your children in their future endeavors. They are committed to you, the kids, and the community in a phenomenal way. I feel lucky to be here and I cannot wait to meet your children tomorrow.
6th Grade Transition Visit Today
Please do not bring school supplies to this event. The teachers prefer to go through supplies tomorrow with the students.
Masks- Students should bring 3 masks to school daily. If a mask breaks we have extras in case of an emergency.
Lunch/Recess- Students will eat socially distanced in either the gym or the cafeteria during lunch. NEW this year will be an additional option to picnic lunch with friends outdoors starting Friday. Students are welcome to bring a towel to sit on if they want to picnic.
Arrival- Please check the below map to be clear on the arrival doors for your students. 6th graders go through the administration doors at 7:45, and 7th/8th graders go through the main entrance. 7th graders will then go into the cafeteria, and 8th graders into the gym until the bell rings at 7:50.
Lockers- 6th graders will not use lockers to start the year. 7th and 8th graders will have lockers. Locks can be purchased in the office.
Bus and Lunch Information
Lunch Information- This year we will have a free lunch program for all students. Daily they will inform their teacher if they brought lunch or will eat school lunch.
Drop-off Traffic Pattern
Morning Drop-off: Parents dropping off a child may only use the east entrance. The west entrance is for bus use only. Please pull into the lot and immediately turn right down the first aisle. Students should be prepared to exit their car by the main door.
We know traffic will be difficult in the morning. Please have your child (children) to school at 7:45am or slightly before to ensure they are not tardy to school.
Bus transportation information will be available soon, and we will email when it is ready.
Pick-up Traffic Pattern
Please keep your eyes alert for children going to other cars as you drive out of the lot.
