Principal's Message
Dear families and community,
This week we are excited as our Fall sports begin their competitions and games. Come out and help cheer them on. We are excited to see what our Coyote athletes have in store for us this year. Last year we had three teams win the state championships, several individual state champions, and numerous runner-ups. Good luck to all of our student athletes!
Student council hosted our back to school assembly today. They have also worked hard to make the back to school dance a blast for all students.
If you don't already have Campo gear check out our Campo Verde online team shop. There are all sizes and over 400 designs to choose from. Check it out at the link below. Orders will be delivered straight to your home for convenience.

Academic Success
Welcome to the start of another exciting year! I wanted to take this letter to introduce myself. My name is Michael Wirth and I am the Academic Support Coordinator here at Campo Verde High School, a brand-new position this year. My job is to help all students with academic success. Whether it is guidance on how to be organized for class, where to go for extra help, what resources are available, and an extra layer of accountability.
Here is my contact info: Michael Wirth Michael.Wirth@gilbertschools.net. Let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything I can do to help your child have a successful year!
Here are some helpful parental reminders and tips:
● Download the Infinite Campus App on your phone which will allow you to quickly check your child's grades.
● Any specific concerns about a particular class, feel free to email or call your child's teacher.
● If possible, seek out/schedule daily opportunities to have conversations with your child.
● Help your child develop and maintain a daily routine that includes a designated time each day to do homework, study for upcoming tests, and review what they learned in class each day.
● Monitor Television, Video-game, and Internet time.
● Encourage your child to develop and maintain an active reading routine.
● Share best practices that you utilize to stay organized, keep a calendar, create to-do lists, how to communicate with teachers/supervisors, how to maintain balance between all activities.
● Model the behaviors you desire for your child.

Library News and Information
Mrs. Flaherty and Mrs. Jeffers would like to invite all the new freshmen and returning students into the library this school year. The library is open from 7:15-3:00 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On Wednesday we are open from 7:15-2:30. Students will find thousands of books, hundreds of encyclopedias, school textbooks, credible databases, computer/printer access and Chromebook charging stations. All of our electronic resources can be found on students’ school google account under the GPS Student Web Apps tab.
New books: We always have a display of the books that just arrived to us. It’s right by the door so students can find them easily. And right above the new books we post pictures of the covers of the books we will be getting soon. Students are able to reserve them, or any book, if they would like.
Can you help? Please consider donating any new or used books to our school library. New releases and popular teen titles (such as John Green books) are most needed, however, any books brought in will be assessed for appropriate use. If they are not needed on campus, they will be used as trades towards purchasing appropriate titles. Simply leave the books with the receptionist or have your child bring them into the library. Thank you for supporting your library!
Chromebook Information:
We recommend reading the Student Device Handbook. Let your students know that they can come to the library at anytime they have questions or need help with their Chromebook.
Also, you may want to consider purchasing the Device Protection Plan for your child. The deadline to purchase is August 31.
If your child is looking to pump up their assignments with flair and create their own individualized weekly planner, have your child look at the free website Spark Adobe. Students have an easy access link on their GPS Rapid Identity Web Apps page. Here’s an article that shows all the template options for school projects and organization: Everything you need to rock the school year

Orchestra Lock-In
Orchestra Boosters
The Campo Verde Orchestra Boosters, or booster club, provides support and guidance to the orchestra director (Mrs. Payne) regarding performances and educational and travel opportunities for the ensembles; raises funds for extra materials and programs to supplement what is provided by the district; and assists in developing a volunteer program to benefit orchestra students. All parents and/or guardians of currently registered orchestra students are automatically enrolled as members of the booster club. Please consider participating as an active member this year to support CVHS’s wonderful orchestra program!
Meetings are held once a month during the school year. Please see the calendar at campoverdeorchestras.org for meeting dates and times.

THE COYOTE PRIDE MARCHING BAND READIES FOR A NEW SEASON
Over one-hundred Campo Verde musicians, directors, and staff members gathered during the summer in preparation for the upcoming marching band season. The rigorous summer schedule helped the band members get in shape while learning formations and music for upcoming performances.
These highly talented musicians demonstrated their physical and mental strength during the twelve-hour daily practices one week before the school year. The Coyote Pride Marching Band is recognized as being one of the best high school marching bands in the state of Arizona and band Director, Matt Kozacek, and Assistant Director, Taylor Mitchell plan to replenish the band’s rank this season.
The marching band’s first performance is on game night this Friday and the band members are ready to help provide the traditional football atmosphere that makes high school football so great. Follow the marching band on social media to keep up with upcoming events.

Sweep
Students who do not arrive to their first hour class on time will be redirected to the sweep room. A parent or guardian must physically enter the building to sign in the late student, otherwise the student will be directed to sweep. Parent phone calls will not excuse the sweep.
While in sweep students will not be able to work on assignments, socialize, or use any electronic devices. Procedures will be in place for students to make up class work and tests they may have missed when they were in Sweep. If a student is swept on a test day, the teacher will allow the student to make up the test. Students who have an assignment due will deliver it to the teacher that same day. All students will be informed of how the Sweep program will be integrated into their school day.
Students who demonstrate repeated tardy behavior will be subject to the progression of interventions and disciplinary action in an effort to encourage and teach proper time management skills. Consequences for sweep will go as follows:
1 st Tardy Offense: Students will be sent to sweep for the remainder of the class period and it will be documented.
2 nd Tardy Offense: Students will be sent to sweep for the remainder of the class period and receive a referral.
3 rd Tardy Offense: Students will be sent to sweep for the remainder of the class period and assigned Saturday School.

Front Office
The Front Office ONLY accepts school-related items for drop off. We do not accept - food, drinks, balloons, gifts, or flowers.
We do not call students out of class to pick up their items. They need to come to the Front Office BETWEEN CLASSES OR AT LUNCH to pick up items at the Drop Off Table.
If a student orders lunch out (Door Dash, etc) - We do not call the student or sign for their lunch. The student needs to be inside the office for their delivery.
If a parent needs to pass an item to their student, the parent and student need to arrange to meet INSIDE THE ADMINISTRATION OFFICE LOBBY - NOT AT ONE OF THE GATES.
No outside drinks allowed.
